Over the past 2 years Hotel Sidi Idriss management has poured a lot of energy and time into renovating the hotel, to include a separate VIP wing (pit 1) with a separate entrance and dedicated dining hall (tunnel leading from pit 1 to the film site in pit 2).

The subterranean construction of the hotel does not allow for private bathrooms in the cave rooms. That said, the common bathroom area (tunnel leading from pit 3 to pit 4/pit 5) is now newly renovated with new toilets, tile, sinks, and showers.

We incorporate an overnight stay at “Luke’s home” into each of our multi-day Twin Suns Expeditions. With special permission from hotel management, our travelers enjoy breakfast directly in the Lars Homestead dining room cave, topped off with blue milk. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Binary sunset (unobstructed).

Following the GIZ-funded/Star Wars Tunisia-led Lars Homestead project in May 2022, local desert vendors invaded the Chott el-Djerid site with unsolicited/unwanted trinket stands and shelter huts set up in the middle of the Star Wars set.

Galaxy Tours took action today to respectfully clear away the obstacles from the essential parts of the set.

This video is the first unobstructed sunset footage at the site in over 1.5 years.
