Located in the Gülşehir district of Nevşehir, *St. Jean Church* (also known as the “Karşı Church”) is one of the most striking examples of Cappadocia’s rock-carved architecture and sacred Christian art. Built in *1212*, this two-story structure stands out with its unique architectural design and remarkable interior frescoes.

The *lower level* of the church houses wine cellars, water channels, and tombs, while the *upper level* serves as a worship area richly decorated with scenes from the Bible. The walls depict vivid scenes from the life of Jesus, including the Last Supper, the Baptism, and the Last Judgment.

Painted on a *dark background* with shades of yellow and brown, the frescoes are adorned with both *geometric and botanical motifs*. The inclusion of the *Last Judgment scene*, rarely found in other churches of the region, sets St. Jean Church apart as a truly exceptional site.
