The house has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a private hammam, well equipped kitchen with room to eat in, comfortable sitting room with views of the sea, private courtyard with outdoor sofa, 2 sun beds, and dining table and chairs. There is a washing machine in the lower bathroom and plenty of storage for suitcases. Our story: We have had a house in Islamlar, a village on the mountain, about 15 minut
es from Kalkan, for five years, but I also longed to restore an old stone house. We found 100 year old Avlu Ev, which was derelict after being empty for 14 years and it made my heart sing at the possibilities! We started a major restoration, preserving as many of the wonderful original features as possible, yet making the house comfortable and practical for life today. It is a joy to be in, with the private courtyard and views of the mountain and the sea. It is very unusual, even for the old town, and its location is second to none, as it is very quiet, but you can walk down to the beach in a minute, walk round the corner to the harbour, restaurants and shops in minutes. A car is not necessary, unless you wish to travel further afield. We are in a purely residential area of old houses with a little open square across the cobbled street with a huge carob tree.
