Founded in 2011, Bahçeşehir University Game Lab (BUG) has become the center of the İstanbul game developer community. BUG Lab organized many events like boot camps, hackathons, workshops, etc. focusing on education, communication, and R&D issues of the emerging game scene. Hosting events like Global Game Jam as the main İstanbul site enabled BUG Lab to bridge the game developer community with indu

stry and academia. With this experience and network, BUG Lab evolved into a game design education and production hub. Still, BUG Lab is the one and only game development hub not just in Turkey but among the region with its community-based approach and professional education options such as Game Design BA and MA programs.

Our Story

İstanbul bağımsız oyun sahnesinin buluşma noktası olarak kabul edilen Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi Oyun Laboratuvarı (BUG Lab) kurulduğu yıldan itibaren sektör ve akademiyi oyun geliştirme eğitimleri ve topluluk etkinlikleri ile bir araya getirmiştir. Tüm bu enerji ve sinerjiden BAU Oyun Tasarımı master ve lisans programları doğmuş; ön kuluçka merkezi BUG Kitchen ve sanal gerçeklik ar-ge merkezi VR First start almıştır. BUG Lab halen topluluk odaklı yaklaşıımı ve profesyonel eğitim seçenekleri ile sadece Türkiye’deki değil bölgedeki ilk ve tek oyun yapılanmasıdır.

Known as the centre of İstanbul indie game scene, Bahcesehir University Game Lab (BUG Lab) has brought together the industry and academia with the game development workshops and community events from the first year of its foundation.
