Our 2-bedroom Villa Bella is just 80 metres from the sea, which is a 3 minute flat walk. Several beach clubs, like Villa Mahal, are lined up there. Kalkan Beach club with the only sandy beach in Kalkan, is at you doorstep.

Some very fine restaurants, like the super romantic Fidanka, are equally close-by Villa Bella.

A 5 minute boat ride brings you to the harbour with 150+ restaurants. Feel its cooling breeze on your way to your dinner. You will love it!

The season Sundreamvillas Bella has come to an end. We are very grateful to all our guests. You came and enjoyed our villa in big numbers. Almost 27 weeks of rental makes us feel humble. We hope and wish that the whole of Kalkan had a good year. Even though the start was bumpy for many for various reasons.

Wishing everyone, guests, villa owners and other entrepeneurs, a well deserved break. And for those whose work now starts in construction etc., please keep Kalkan clean and quiet. Go to bed early!

HOLIDAYS IN KALKAN.....
A warm summer evening. Turkish music tunes play as a background music. On the table delicious appetizers. There are always olives and you may dip your bread into its oil. You feel the mood of Mediterranean Kalkan. And you know what? Holidays in Kalkan do help you live longer because of that olive oil!

It is hard work...harvesting the olives...
They are harvested by hand and by beating the branches with a stick. It is a family happening. Since thousands of years the olive harvest is involving whole families.

From the end of October until February everywere around Kalkan you see old people sitting and kneeling on the soil under the trees. Aged women and men climb in trees to beat the branches.

With friends, Helen Özcan, Kasem Ahmad, Danielle Verbakel, Frenk and myself also harvest the olives from our trees and the trees of some friends, of Jaspel and Leanne Gardner.

TREE OF LIFE....
One of the latest longitudinal studies confirm the benefits of extra virgin olive oil, eating only ½ a tablespoon a day.

They reduced their chance of death from cancer by 17%

They reduced their chance of death from respiratory disease by 18%

They reduced their chance of death from cardiovascular disease by 19%

They reduced their chance of death from neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s by 29%.

The scientists also studied a group that replaced the margarine, butter, mayonnaise and dairy fat in their diet with olive oil. These individuals reduced their chance of death by up to 34%.

This report confirms that eating olive oil does reduce your mortality risk. Could extra virgin olive oil be the key to unlocking the fountain of youth?

We harvested almost 250 kg of olives, 40 liters of cold pressed (27 degrees) oil.

FLIGHT NEWS
Ryanair is set to launch new flights from the UK to Dalaman, starting 2 December 2024. It marks a significant expansion of its services to Turkey's popular coastal destinations during the winter season.

These new routes are expected to boost tourism in the region during the quieter winter months, providing more flexibility for British tourists planning winter holidays or early preparations for the upcoming summer season.

Great cocktails and amazing dinner at the Lykia. There was a drop of rain, but their inside space absolutely great and very cosy. For free....A lovely starter of halloumi, an in-between amuse of mild lemon sorbet and a huge mountain of chocolates at the end. We almost did not need the tasty 3 course dinner. To mention some outstanding dishes...the huge oysters, the rock seabass that melted in your mouth, and the heavenly desserts like burning Alaska and chocolate mousse. The portions were very generous. The 2200 lira p.p. included cocktails, wine and coffee.

Organising a bbq is our way of sharing meat with Turkish-Dutch friends for Bayram. When we lived in Africa our neighbours always shared with us. But obviously no Turkish tradition.

It was also a nice occasion to celebrate the Victory of the Dutch team in the European cup.

ONLY A 3 MINUTES FLAT WALK
The beach club of hotel Villa Mahal is quite simply breath-taking. Voted Condé Nast Johansens Most Romantic Hotel in Europe and featured prominently in the Sunday Times Hot 100 Europe’s Best Hotels and best Luxury Value in Europe & The Mediterranean.

It is one of the three beach clubs at a 3 minutes flat walk from our lovely Villa Bella. Just 400 lira to spent the day there and being pampered. Like the other beach club they also run a regular 5 minute boat trip to the Kalkan harbour. What a wonderful entre to your evening meal in Kalkan. Or choose to have your dinner at the water side in Mahal.
