ANCIENT CITY OF APHORODISIAS

It is located in Karacasu district of Aydın Province. Aphrodisias, named after the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite, is an ancient city that was famous for the worship of Aphrodite, especially in the Roman era.

Founded as a Carian city, Aphrodisias caught its golden age in the Roman period. During this period, marble statues and structures of extraordinary beauty were built and an art school known as the Aphrodisias style developed.

The main building remains that can be seen in the city are M.S. The bath, built during the reign of Emperor Hadrianus in the 2nd century, the agora with a large pool, BC. Temple, stadium, ancient theater, tetrapylon, theater bath, odeon, bishop's palace, built for the goddess Aphrodite in the 1st century.

At the 41st UNESCO World Heritage Committee Meeting held in Krakow, Poland, our country's candidate, Aphrodisias Archaeological Site, was registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2017.

Pigeon Island (Güvercin Ada);
Just off Kuşadası harbor, a 350-meter-long causeway leads out to tiny Pigeon Island (Güvercin Ada), where the remnants of a 13th-century Byzantine fortress sit on a cliff.
The fort became a lair for local pirates during the Ottoman era, and the rampart walls, which wrap partially around the island, are a young architectural addition – only dating to the early 19th century.
The island is a favorite spot for a seaside stroll. Inside the fort, a walkway winds its way between endemic trees and plants such as Turkish pine and the protected Kuşadası tülüşah flower, with signboards dotted along the way explaining this region's flora and fauna.
Afterwards, the island's café is a good spot to sit back and admire the harbor views.
