Frontinus Gate is the monumental entrance to the Roman city. It was built of travertine blocks and had three arches and two circular towers situated on its eastern and western sides.

The gate, dating towards the late 1st century AD, has a marble inscription dedicated by Sextus Julius Frontinus, proconsul of Asia in 84-86 AD, to Emperor Domitian. Thus, the names of the monumental street and the gate are related to Frontinus and Domitian.

In the ancient city of Priene, the cult statue of Athena was a copy of the statue of Athena made by the famous sculptor Phidias for the Parthenon. However, it is half the size. One sees the image of the statue on coins dating from the Roman period. The standing Athena, with a helmet on her head, is seen with goatskin, spear and shield. In her right hand she holds a Nike. Fragments of the goldplated bronze wings of Nike, and fragments of the marble left foot and arm of the Goddess, indicate that the statue was 6.5 meters high. https://www.ephesustravelguide.com/blog/history-of-priene-private-tours-of-priene

According to some historians, similar torture techniques used in Pergamon in front of the Altar of Zeus were employed to persecute early Christians. The methods of torture were often brutal and designed to instill fear in those practicing the Christian faith. Interrogations and punishments were carried out in public view, aiming to deter others from following the Christian belief. The historical accounts of these events shed light on the challenges faced by early Christians and the lengths to which authorities would go to suppress their beliefs.

Bull of Falaris
Thanks to Lucian, the 2nd century AD satirist, we know quite a bit about the torture machine known as "the brass bull of Perilaus" or "the bull of Phalaris".
The sculptor Perilaos between 570-560 BC.
he made to the order of the tyrant Phalaris, a brass bull that could fit an entire man inside. When they lit a fire under the bull, the one inside was roasted alive and his voices were heard, through a special mechanism, like the bellowing of the bull.
When he first presented his invention to the tyrant of Acragantas of Sicily, he ordered Perilaus to be put inside the bull and made his first victim.
It was a fitting end for the inventor of such a diabolical machine.
