Got back on board Ramprasad in the Boatyard just over a week ago. Rawle the painter had taken the initiative of cleaning the cockpit and deck before collecting me from the airport - much appreciated. It was feeling hot so next day asked the yard to fit an Air-conditioner unit to one of my hatches - that afternoon it was fitted - efficient service! What a relief!!!

Arrived yesterday morning here in Chaguramas in Trinidad after sailing overnight from Prickly Bay Grenada. 85.6 miles in 26.25 hours in a good reach across the moderate trade wind. Dolphins came to welcome us at about 0200. With the moon having set and being well away from land it was good and dark AND there was bioluminescence in the water. The dolphins were visible and excited the plankton so that I could see their trails as we and they sped though the water. This is what many would call a magical welcome from our cetacean friends! With it being so dark AND that time of the morning I did not wake the crew to share this wonderful experience and of course it was so dark that trying to use my camera would have had disappointing results - so I just had to enjoy the spectacle in the old-fashioned way ...
The wind had eased a bit on our approach and so entry through the Boca de Huevos was stress-free and as we got the first morning light we rolled up the genoa and took down the mainsail ... and then motored around Gaspar Grande and into Chaguramas.
Entry protocols here in T & T have of course changed quite a bit since my last visit here in 2008. The spread of the Covid-19 pandemic has been of great concern and the government here kept the country closed off for a bit longer then some of their neighbours. But having made all the necessary arrangements before our departure we completed our entry formalities here yesterday morning without a hitch - we were greatly helped by the Power Boats boatyard with whom I have now booked to haul out next Wednesday. It was wonderful to speak to Jesse James who now runs YSATT (the marine trades umbrella organisation here) and the Members Only Maxi-Taxi bus tour company (with whom I have had really exceptional bus tours here in the past).
Altogether I am SO happy to be back here after an absence that now feels that it has been FAR TOO LONG !!!

Arrived in Grenada on 18th Dec - 18 days after leaving Mindelo in the Cape Verdes. We flew the RoundSail for most of this trip. It is an 8 metre diameter converted military parachute. It performed in an Excellent manner in the consistent trade winds that we had.
