Bloody Bay, Tobago is a stunning beach located about 15 minutes from The Victory Villa. The beach boasts crystal clear waters and soft white sand, making it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. The area is surrounded by lush greenery and palm trees, providing a picturesque backdrop to the already stunning scenery. Visitors can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing on the beach or take a stroll along the shoreline while enjoying the cool breeze and breathtaking views. Directly opposite the bay and clearly visible 5km out to sea you can see the Sister Rock. The restaurant and bar are under renovation and will reopen by July-August 2023 along with lifeguard service. There are many stories about the origin of the name. The most believed by locals is that the bay was named after a battle between English soldiers and African slaves in 1771 that was fierce enough to turn the sea crimson with blood. One of the many sad episodes in Tobago’s history.

Englishman’s Bay, located less than 5 minutes away from The Victory Villa, is a picturesque beach known for its crystal-clear waters and pristine sands. During the months of April and May, visitors to this beautiful bay are treated to a breathtaking sight of the Yellow Poui, also called Cogwood or Greenheart (scientific name: Handroanthos serratifolius). These trees are native to Tobago and grow very quickly. They are often harvested for timber. These trees, with their vibrant hues of yellow, create a stunning contrast against the blue sky and turquoise waters. The sight of these magnificent trees is truly a feast for the eyes and a reminder of the beauty of nature.
Other pouis can be seen around Tobago. Also native to Tobago is the yellow flowered Black Poui or Cogwood (scientific name: Handroanthos chyrsanthus) which is slower in growth and is the most popular poui in Tobago. It has a somewhat crooked trunk, smaller girth, and is more conspicuous than the Yellow Poui. It is used to make walking sticks, sling shots, and is also used to make sticks for stick fighting (Papa Bois folklore). There are two trees at The Victory Villa blooming with yellow flowers.
On the driveway at The Victory Villa you can see the Pink Poui -called Apamat in Trinidad- (scientific name: Tabebuia rosea) in full bloom with lavender flowers. This poui is not native to Tobago and was introduced here from South America.

Parlatuvier Waterfall (Top River Falls) is a breathtaking natural wonder. Parlatuvier is known for its lush vegetation and pristine beach. The waterfall is a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike, offering a refreshing escape from the heat and humidity of the dry season. To reach the Parlatuvier Waterfall, visitors take a short 3 min walk from the entrance/parking lot directly opposite Jetty Road. An inconspicuous kiosk and a grassy parking area mark the short trail to the waterfall. The walk to the falls is on flat terrain beneath towering bamboo.
There are three pools where visitors can bathe, one at ground level, and another -the top falls- about 60 feet up is reached by clambering up a slight incline holding on to rocks, roots and a rope. The third level requires a small descent over the rocks. On the third level you will be greeted by towering trees many dotted with fiery heliconias. The lush green plants, create a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The water is cool and refreshing, making it an ideal spot for swimming and relaxing.
Sit on a rock under the bamboo and have your lunch or just catch crayfish for dinner as one of our recent guests did. This is a magical spot to be alone with nature. Here, the broad lower pool is brushed by vines trailing from the forest canopy.
This is an ideal area for bird watching. On a recent trip we were greeted by the Trinidad Motmot, a fantastic bird with a long, racket-tipped tail that is only found in Trinidad and Tobago. No other bird in the T&T shares its beautiful orange, green, and blue color pattern, and the black mask, breast spot, ruby eye, and large size make it truly unforgettable.
Overall, the Parlatuvier Waterfall is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Tobago. Its natural beauty and tranquil surroundings make it a perfect spot for relaxation and rejuvenation.
