Sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate with your day, even after all the planning you put in. Not to worry though, an adventure still awaits.

Do you know the tale of Madam Grosdent? A witch that made a pact with the devil and how the tooth in first boca came to be?
“The girth of the good green earth
The height of the clouds that soar
A voice that pealed like thunder when she spoke
Movement to the speed of rushing winds
The strength of the seas
And teeth that could bite through the hardest rock.”

Leased by the Americans 🇺🇸 during world war 2, Gasparee island saw the installation of 2 Howitzer 4.7 inch guns that were meant to aid in the islands defense if need be. A fun fact to note is that when the took over Chaguaramas during the war, it was considered the largest Naval base outside of US soil.

Another great team builder with Trinity Exploration and Production exploring the western isles of Trinidad. 🇹🇹

Trinidad’s rainy season has begun. For those who love the outdoors but are novice hikers and wanting to explore waterfalls and rivers, the best advice is: if you do not know, ask! 🇹🇹
Friday May 24th we hosted Central Bank’s statistical department on a team building excursion. Their day included boat transportation to both gasparee island and monos island, a tour of gasparee caves, day accommodation at our facilities on Monos island where they held their team building exercise. Lunch and refreshments were fully catered in order to make this day much more relaxing for our guests.

In life, it’s not where you go. It’s who you travel with. 🇹🇹
Trinidad’s northern range rises dramatically from the ocean and creates some spectacular terrain to explore and enjoy. With its amazing beaches, hidden waterfalls and view points that will captivate you, all wrapped up deep in history, this is an adventure you do not want to miss. 🇹🇹
Climb the mountain so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.
🇹🇹
A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles.
🇹🇹
For guests with a higher level of fitness, we highly recommend this hike. Paria is a 8 mile hike in total on a well marked bench trail that offers guests scenic views of the north coast and of beaches that are hidden gems on the island. The very picturesque paria bay with its river also has a waterfall that is short 20 minute walk in from the beach.
🇹🇹
Trinidad played the following significant roles during the war in assisting the United States; it was the convoy-assembly point transmitting tankers from the Caribbean oil ports across the Atlantic to North Africa and Europe, secondly the Gulf of Paria was used by US carriers and airplanes for their final exercises before going to the Pacific Battleground via the Panama Canal. Thirdly planes for the Eighth Army in North Africa were ferried through Trinidad and lastly vessels and civilian planes from South America had to stop at Trinidad for clearance to proceed to North America and European destinations (Brereton, 1982).

Gaspar Grande is primarily limestone, and reaches a height of 397 feet. Gaspar Grande is home to the Gasparee Caves, a natural limestone cave system with a mysterious pool at its base. Other caves on the island include the White Cave, the Brioge Cavern and the Precipice Cavern.
Legend has it that another cave on the island, William Dampiers Tunnel, has a pirate’s treasure chest which is easily accessible on certain days of the year.

The Matura river is quite possibly the most beautiful river in Trinidad and contains some great hiking destinations. The easiest of these being mermaid pools which is said to have gotten its name from hunters who came across mermaids in the river on one of their trips.
🇹🇹
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
🇹🇹
Visitors to Trinidad should not miss this adventure. The Blue Gotto is the largest cave system on Gasparee Island and formed over thousands, if not millions of years of wave action and rainfall.

Gasparee’s blue grotto is a salt water lagoon 100 feet underground on the island. Descend below the surface, surrounded stalactites and stalagmites and where they join, create columns that shimmer with what light is provided by the surface. Want to see more? Contact us for your tour today.

Caroni bird sanctuary is a favorite for tourists visiting Trinidad. The Swamp is known for many different species, including caimans, swamp boas, crabs of different types, herons and egrets, flamingo but in particular the Scarlet Ibis, one of Trinidad’s National birds.

We often get asked if kids can do our Gasparee caves tour. Here’s our answer:

Although never firing a single shot in combat, these 4.7 inch Howitzer field guns can still be seen on the ridge overlooking point baleine and were installed towards the end of world war 2 in order to protect Trinidad from German U-boats.

Maracas Valley or Maracas - St. Joseph is the colloquial name in Trinidad to distinguish Maracas Valley from Maracas Bay. Maracas Valley lies just north of the old capital of Trinidad. Maracas Bay however, lies just north on the other side of the mountain to Maracas Valley. Maracas bay is NOT accessible through Maracas Valley. The valley is one of the first areas to be settled. Maracas Royal road is one of the oldest roads in Trinidad.
Sunday morning swims on the mysterious Chacachacare island located off Trinidad’s north western peninsula. This particular bay is over 200 feet of knee to waist high water.

Enjoy the scenic drive along Trinidad’s north coast towards Las Cuevas beach. Only to arrive at hidden gem tucked away with a breath taking view of El Tucuche’s peak, Trinidad’s 3rd highest mountain. Although the hike to this waterfall is relatively short, it requires navigating uneven terrain ending at this this beautiful destination. #barefootadventures #limewithalocal #hiking #waterfalls #paradise #beatifuldestinations #outdoors #islandlife #caribbean #tours #trinidadandtobago🇹🇹
