Tourism Trinidad proudly welcomed the passengers and crew of the Majestic Princess (Princess Cruises) on their inaugural visit to the Port of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. The vessel brought approximately 3,469 passengers to our shores, with over 900 opting for pre-booked tours — a clear indicator of the continued interest in our destination. On the quayside, passengers were greeted by the vibrant sights and sounds of cultural displays. Many joined in dancing to the sweet melodies of the steelpan, capturing special moments with traditional Carnival characters provided by the TT Carnival Museum. To commemorate the occasion, a customary crest exchange was conducted onboard, where Chairman of Tourism Trinidad, Ms. Keiba Mottley, delivered warm remarks, thanking the crew and Captain for Princess Cruises’ continued support and loyalty to the destination.

Celebrating Excellence in Tourism & Culture!

The Lopinot Tourism Association Ltd. was honored with the Entrepreneurial Excellence Award by the Tunapuna / Piarco Regional Corporation for their outstanding contributions to tourism and the successful management of the Lopinot Chocolate Company at the Civic Awards and Gala reception held on November 20th, 2024. Their chocolate tours have made Lopinot a global chocolate destination, with cocoa products reaching as far as Japan, Norway, China, and beyond!

But that's not all — it was a double win as the legendary Mr. Martin Gomez, former Supervisor of the Lopinot historical site, was recognized with the Cultural Visionary Award! As a beloved figure, he has shared the rich history of Lopinot and its folklore, including tales of Count de Lopinot, enslaved peoples, and the famous Martin Gomez Cave. His daily parang performances made him a staple for tourists, and he continues to manage the tours alongside his daughter and CEO of the Lopinot Tourism Association, Donna Mora.

Here's to honoring the past, celebrating the present, and building a sustainable future!

On November 29th & 30th, 2024, the World Cocoa and Chocolate Day Expo took centre stage at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, hosted by the Cocoa Research Centre of the UWI. This incredible event brought together cocoa farmers, chocolatiers, and chocolate lovers to celebrate one of Trinidad and Tobago's finest treasures—our world-renowned cocoa!

Tourism Trinidad Limited (TTL) in collaboration with the National Archives of Trinidad and Tobago showcased an exhibition entitled “The History of Cocoa Production in Trinidad and Tobago” while also highlighting that our premium cocoa is not just a global delicacy but also a key driver of culinary and agro tourism. Visitors are drawn to Trinidad not only for its rich history and amazing attractions but also for immersive experiences created around local cocoa, such as the bean-to-bar process and authentic chocolate-flavoured culinary delights.

Cocoa plays an integral role in the tourism industry, connecting visitors to our culture, heritage, and economy. By supporting the local cocoa sector, we enhance Destination Trinidad as a haven for unique, flavourful adventures that are always in season.
