Many miles away from home and getting this news is the biggest heartbreak of all. In our last talk I knew you were at peace, happy and contended I could hear it in your voice and that spicy laugh of yours! I know your history will be covered by everyone, but this is one of my special moments. The all important Cancer Awareness walk, the passion you spoke with, explaining to persons the importantance of getting tested, and the patience and grace you showed to each and everyone that greeted you was just amazing. You had this gift of making people feel comfortable to approach and interact with you. for me, I will surely miss all those long Sunday morning talks. Farewell Dr. Cape! may the ancestors guide you to the Throne safely as you continue in that next realm. To his loving wife Cheryl who I know personally was the engine that kept him going, he knew that God blessed him with you. To the rest of family, close friends and everyone lives he touched, please accept my condolences. To one of my biggest inspiration and friend, May you RIEP

A Vibrant Celebration of Steelpan and Culture
The streets of Port of Spain are set to come alive on Wednesday, 21st August 2024, with Pan Trinbago’s highly anticipated Pan and Powder Parade. Starting at 5:00 PM from City Hall, Port of Spain, this energetic and festive event will showcase the iconic sounds of Steelpan music, celebrating Trinidad and Tobago’s rich cultural heritage.

"You see them three Columbus ships in the emblem? They will go."
These were the words of Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley as he made the powerful announcement at the People’s National Movement (PNM) special convention yesterday. The ships will be replaced with the national instrument, the Steelpan. The change is expected to be finalised before Republic Day (September 24), with a six-month transition period to facilitate changes to stationery and other official materials.

President of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Dennis Francis, who is also a “Son of T&T”, paid a courtesy call to the Desperadoes Steel Orchestra, to visit the band’s “middle- childhood” and “Teens” Steelpan project. The group ages range from approximately 6 -12 and 13- 20 years respectively. Each group did a performance for UN President. Diplomat Francis
has served as this country's permanent representative to the United Nations since 2021 and was elected to serve as the UN General Assembly's 78th president in 2023.

We then transport all goods to the Lions Civic Centre at 10 Fitzblackman Drive, Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago for shipment to the respective islands.

Praises and thanks to our pioneers for their perseverance towards creating this gift for all, to the T&T Government, the Opposition, Pan Trinbago, and to all those who had carried the fight to this point.

Senator the Honourable Randall Mitchell, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, piloted the debate on The National Musical Instrument Bill, 2024 in the House of Representatives today, Wednesday July 3rd, 2024.

This Bill provides for the designation of the Steelpan as the National Musical Instrument of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

After being read a third time, it was passed in the House of Representatives.

The Rotunda Gallery at the Red House in Port of Spain Trinidad, recently held an exhibition in the month of March observing Women’s Month, featuring women artists and their work. Although I just happened o be making a "short cut" (as we say in Trinidad) to get to the Sackville street, I had to pause for a litle while and take in creativity at its best.
