Our UNESCO Listed, Main Ridge Forest Reserve has been protected since 1776 and is the oldest protected rainforest in the Western Hemisphere! As today is dedicated to raising awareness for rainforest protection, let's be reminded that they are vital for the survival of our ecosystem 🌱

The Main Ridge houses hundreds of species of flora and fauna as its an important habitat for species propagation on the island, with over 40 endemic species, and 83 endangered species 🦎

It's World Sea Turtle Day! 🐢

A chance to experience the renowned birding paradise of Tobago! 🦜 🏝️ Two lucky birders won this grand prize from the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL) during the 2023 Global UK Bird Fair in Leicestershire, England, as TTAL continues its efforts to highlight Tobago's diverse eco-tourism offerings among European travelers. The formal prize-giving took place at TTAL's Scarborough Headquarters, where Interim Chief Executive Officer at TTAL, Phillip Robinson awarded Phil Williamson and his wife the grand prize, alongside Zolani Frank of Zee Birding hikes and Nature tours. who sponsored a birdwatching tour to further support the prize.

As they prepared to embark on the journey of a lifetime, Williamson shared his excitement with being in Tobago:

"We're really bird watchers and obviously Tobago is very rich in birds, so we're looking forward to seeing a lot of birds with Zolani, our guide. And obviously the lovely beaches. Tobago is just a really interesting place with so much to do on a relatively small island, lots of nice restaurants...we're looking forward to having a really nice time."

With its lush forests, mangrove swamps and rich coastal habitats, Tobago is a naturally welcoming landscape for a vast variety of native and migratory birds. At many sites such as the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, Shurland Nature Park, and the Adventure Farm and Nature Reserve, scores of hummingbirds are known to roam freely, darting through visitors as they feed. The isle of Little Tobago, also known as Bird of Paradise Island, is one of the Caribbean’s important seabird sanctuaries. The bananaquit, or sugarbird, is known to join visitors a their breakfast tables, you may wake up to the chorus of the tropical mockingbird singing, or catch a glimpse of the strikingly beautiful plumage of the blue-crowned motmot. In Tobago, birdlife is everywhere you look and TTAL remains committed to showcasing these authentic experiences to the world ✨.
