Mid-Autumn Festival in Taiwan

The Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, is a time for family reunions in Taiwan. People enjoy mooncakes, which are pastries filled with sweet or savory fillings. Lanterns light up the night as families participate in lantern parades. A unique Taiwanese tradition is barbecuing with family and friends. Moon gazing is also popular, symbolizing unity and harmony. Pomelos, a seasonal fruit, are eaten for their auspicious meaning. The festival is a blend of traditional customs and modern celebrations, reflecting Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage.

今天是先知穆罕默德的生日，也被稱為“聖紀”。在這一天，穆斯林會通過誦讀《古蘭經》、講述先知的生平、進行特別的祈禱和讚美詩、參與慈善活動以及家庭聚餐來紀念先知。

另外，今天也是台灣的中秋節前夕，許多家庭會聚在一起吃飯、烤肉，享受團圓的時光。

Today is the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, also known as “Mawlid al-Nabi.” On this day, Muslims commemorate the Prophet by reciting the Quran, narrating his life stories, offering special prayers and hymns, engaging in charitable activities, and having family gatherings.

ThaiWang Muslim Thai Food Restaurant in a more casual tone. This restaurant is located at Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, approximately a 5-7 minute walk from Jingan MRT Station. What makes it unique is that the owners are a Muslim family. Their food is halal-certified.
Now, let’s dive into their famous dishes:
Moon Shrimp Cakes: These thick and bouncy shrimp cakes are a must-try. They’re full of shrimp flavor and incredibly satisfying.
Spicy Squid Salad: Chilled squid with a zesty kick—perfect as an appetizer.
Pepper Chicken: A straightforward dish with tender chicken and plenty of shredded cabbage.
Coconut Chicken: A classic Thai dish featuring tender chicken breast.
Chicken Curry: Made with chicken thigh meat, this curry is flavorful and comforting.
Stir-Fried Beef: If you’re a beef lover, give this dish a shot.
Steamed Lemon Fish: Fresh fish steamed with a hint of lemon—no fishy taste here!

The decor is infused with Middle Eastern charm, with colorful Turkish carpets and lamps adorning the walls, creating a warm and enchanting atmosphere. The highlight here is the sand-brewed coffee, where coffee grounds are slowly roasted in hot sand, a traditional brewing method that intensifies the coffee’s flavor. Besides coffee, their Turkish desserts are a must-try, such as the sweet baklava or sesame-flavored tahini cookies, each handcrafted and utterly delicious.
