On this Endangered Species Day we want to highlight our black rhinos in Tanzania, who are threatened with extinction due to a number of reasons.

There are not so many to begin with because in comparison to other animals, their pregnancy takes a lot longer, up to 15-16 months.

And even though the government, rangers guides, and certain organizations are doing all they can to protect them, they’re still poached for the keratine in their horns.

Also when they are in stress, they don’t reproduce.

Therefore it’s really important to educate people on how to be act around them and how to contribute to a safe and healthy environment for them.

Fun fact: Did you know black rhinos are not afraid of fire? The opposite actually! When they see it, they realize it’s dangerous and they go put it out by stepping on it.

Ol Doinyo Lengai (2890 metres) is located some 240 kilometres to the northwest of Arusha town, along the western escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, overlooking Lake Natron on the border with Kenya. Ol Doinyo Lengai, or Mountain of God in Maasai, is the only active volcano in Tanzania.

The mountain can be climbed in 6 hours, affording breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley and volcanic formations in the Ngorongoro highlands as you get to the summit. It is an adventurous hike starting at dawn. Remember this is an active volcano, the mountain remains closed for climbing when we have eruptions.

We are truly sad to hear that we lost one of the famous lions in the Serengeti plains Bob Jr and his brother, these two males were very famous in Serengeti (especially bob JR the one in the first picture).
Bob and his brother were killed by three male lions who are now known as the strong coalition in the Serengeti plains.
