Thinking about the best route for Kili? The Rongai Route takes 6 to 7 days. Rongai is the only route with a northern approach and is considered the best trek in the rainy season. This route is good for acclimatization but is often considered a more difficult final ascent.

Prison Island is a sanctuary to Zanzibar’s Giant Aldabran Tortoise colony. This endangered species can weigh up to 249 kg (550 pounds) and live for over 100 years! "Almost two years ago, out of the blue, I decided I wanted to go to Kilimanjaro. So, ten days before a group was leaving for Tanzania, I booked the trip (without any kind of preparation!) So, when I got there, after the first mile I was already asking myself, “What I’m doing here?” But at that point, I had met Amos, who encouraged me. He told me I could make it, at least to the Base Camp. So, starting that moment, he followed all my steps and really made a difference for me. The second time I wanted to drop out, Amos and the team insisted I should go to the top, so I went. Before Stella Point, at about 5,700 meters, I felt I had done enough, but that was another moment when Amos was beside me and gave me all the support I needed to get to the top.
