OSTRICH, THE HEAVIEST FLIGHTLESS BIRD IN WORLD

Ostrich is the world’s largest bird and the only flightless bird native to Africa. Males are visibly black and white with naked necks and thighs which turn bright pink during courtship. The breeding season are from August to December. Hens may lay up 30 eggs at rate of one egg per day. Some eggs are failed to develop because they are many for one ostrich to cover. Incubation is divided into day and night shift, the black male by night, female by day when grey color makes her harder to see. Ostrich are very fast runners and are able to maintain their pace for a considerable time. They have ability to swerve sharply, sometimes enable them to outwit predators such as lions.

==== Olive Baboon I Lake Manyara National Park =====
Baboons are particularly common from the entrance gate of Lake Manyara National Park. Most of their food consists of grass, fruits, wild flowers and insects but they frequently hunt and kill young of dik dik, impalas and other antelopes. A troop of baboon consists of 30 and 100 individuals which can range over an area as large as 10 sq Kms. Troop is made up of females and their young, adolescent animals of both sexes and number of adult males. At adolescence age males leave the troop into which they were born and transfer to another troop. Males can be distinguished from females by their larger size, mane and strong canines. Females do carry their young on their stomach, but after about a month the young infant rides jockey style on the mother’s back near the tail. High ranking females have greater access to food and have more offspring
