*Spotted hyenas* live in complex social structures🤔 where hierarchy *_plays a key role, and the system is strongly matriarchal._*

*_Females dominate over males, and their status🤗 is passed down from generation to generation, meaning that young females inherit their mother's social rank._*

This ensures that a young female, from birth, has a predetermined place in the clan's hierarchy, *_which affects her access to resources and her overall standing in the group._*😢

The hierarchy is stable, so young females with higher status have better chances of survival and reproductive success. 🤔

*As a result, the social structure of spotted hyenas is remarkably stable and strongly influenced by birth.*🫢 ❤️

I've been "corrected" a futile number of times when I post what a cheetah deems prey. The biggest one they try to inform me about is that a cheetah does not hunt adult, healthy wildebeest -- especially a lone cheetah.
An adult wildebeest can fight aggressively, is also agile and can run fast. A coalition (more than one cheetah) has a better chance of bringing down this type of large antelope but the lone adult cheetah can sometimes achieve this type of hunting success of a large animal.
Never forget that a cheetah is categorized as one of nature's large predators.

*COMBAT DANCING*
*The combat dance engaged in by two males is believed to be a competitive behavior for the acquisition of females during the breeding season. As in the courtship dance, the front of the bodies entwine and are raised higher and higher off the ground until finally one snake overthrows the other.
