I spent my youth being told all of the things I shouldn’t and couldn’t ever do because I was a Type 1 Diabetic.

I thought those days had passed.

The week before I left for Tanzania, I had two doctor appointment’s.

The first was with my normal GP, I was only visiting as I needed a Diamox prescription for altitude sickness. I explained why I needed them and was quickly told that I should re-consider my plans to climb.

The second appointment was with my German Endocrinologist. Someone who in I have really bonded with and formed an enjoyable working relationship.
When I told her my plans, it didn’t take long for her to tell me to re-consider my plans also. Horror.

I got home, a little defeated.

So I rang my mother to explain my situation.
Her response was exactly what I needed to hear.

“Have you EVER let other people telling you you can’t do something stop you before?”
To which I responded “No”.
“Well then, pack your bag and get up that hill one step at a time”

What a lady she is ❤️

Now I don’t EVER advise anyone to go against what your doctor recommends for a second but……

I just wanted share how important it is to NEVER let anyone else’s fear and hesitation stop you from doing what you want to do.

You know yourself, your body and what you are capable of better than ANYONE.

Stay true to what you believe.

Maintain confidence in your decisions and actions, even when faced with doubt or criticism from others.

Trusting yourself and your own judgment is the most important factor when it comes to your personal growth and success.
