7 - DAY CALVING SEASON IN SOUTHERN SERENGETI.
This 7-Day Tanzania Lodge and Tented Camp Safari allows us to experience the highlights of the Northern Safari Circuit. We experience breathtaking wildlife amid diverse landscapes; monkeys in the forest, lions in the trees, elephants amongst the acacias, and a huge variety of animals inside a collapsed volcano. We also visit The Serengeti National Park, home to some 3 million animals.
These spectacular grass plains offer the best opportunity of viewing cheetah, leopard, and lion, in the true wild.

We depart after breakfast to Serengeti via the Ngorongoro conservation area where we have a picnic lunch at Ntatuma transit picnic site. We arrive for an afternoon game drive on the northern side of Serengeti, entering the park. Serengeti offers the most enthralling game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo and wildebeests, groups of elephants and giraffes, eland, impala and Grant's gazelle, lions, leopards, and many others. Dinner and overnight at Lodge/ tented camps
DAY 4: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE IN SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Breakfast at around 0800am. Proceed with morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with lunch boxes. The term Serengeti means endless plains in the Masai language. In the central plains, there are carnivores like leopards, lions, hyenas, and cheetahs. This park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra that occurs between the Maasai Mara, Kenya and the Serengeti. Varied bird species can be seen here including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, storks, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes, Spoon bill, and guinea fowl. The Serengeti National Park is arguably the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world with over 3 million large mammals.
About 35 species of plains animals can be seen there including the "big 5" - Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard, and Buffalo. Other common species found here include hippo, giraffe, eland, impala and other antelope types, baboons, monkeys, and a profusion of over 500 species of birds. In May or early June, huge herds of wildebeest, gazelle, and zebra begin their annual spectacular migration northwards.
In their wake follow predators, lions, cheetahs, and wild dogs with vultures circling overhead! Come back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5. SERENGETI TO NDUTU AREA
After breakfast, we will head to the Lake Ndutu area, situated in the Ngorongoro conservation area, part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. Lake Ndutu is alkaline, like most of the other Rift lakes, however, the water is still drinkable and used by a wide array of local wildlife.
We arrive in time for lunch at the lodge or camp, and after lunch, we will do an afternoon game drive in the Ndutu area.
The majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short-grass plains from December to April. The area is usually heavily populated with elephants, birds, and resident game.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge/ Tented camps
DAY 6. NDUTU AREA FULL GAME DRIVE
After breakfast, leave with lunch boxes, enjoy a full-day game drive in the Ndutu area. Explore the range of different habitats that include swamps, woodland, soda lakes, and the world-famous Serengeti short grass plains. See great herds of wildebeest and zebra. During a short time frame around February, normally lasting for about 3 weeks, the majority of the wildebeest calve. The sea of grass provides little cover and the young are easy pickings for a variety of predators.
Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge/ Tented camps.
DAY 7: NDUTU AREA TO NGORONGORO CRATER TO ARUSHA
After breakfast, with a picnic lunch packed, we depart for a game drive to the Ngorongoro crater. A real-life Eden, you will be amazed by its abundant wildlife that gets very close to the vehicle. The crater floor supports more than 25,000 large mammals including the remaining Black Rhinos, Zebras, Gnus, Gazelles, Buffalos, Lions, Hippos, Elephants, Elands, Hyenas, and several aquatic birds. We explore the crater till late afternoon drive back to Arusha and take your flight back to Arusha/ Zanzibar/home.
