Each habitat we explore, lends itself to a different daily rhythm; in some areas, we head for early mornings and late afternoons out, spending the hot hours of the day resting in the shade or a hide watching the wildlife coming to drink at a water hole. While in others, we venture out for full days carrying picnic hampers and cooled drinks, getting lost in the vast expanses of wilderness, and enjoying long leisurely picnics in the shade of large acacia trees.

The most sociable of the big cats, lions live in prides of related females, their offspring and typically 1-2 dominant males. The typical pride consists of 10 to 15 lions, with adult females, their cubs, and a few males. Some lion prides can be as large as 40 members.
