SHORT BIO - Wilfred Kimaso °1970
After graduating from Usa Technical School as a car mechanic from 1990 till 1994 I started my professional career with One Ten garage. We specialized in maintaining Land Rover Defender Safari Vehicles. Soon, one of our main clients Sengo Safaris, employed me occasionally as a driver of their supply cars. As such, I drove across the whole country, from Ruaha to Natron, to supply mobile tented camps. It was on those trips that I developed a strong interest in the animals and the vast landscapes of the Tanzanian wilderness. I started reading books and watching documentaries on African wildlife. In addition I bought some field guides to bring with me on my trips in the bush. Things really changed after obtaining a certificate as a tour guide through a course in 1996. I was hired by Serena car Hire & Fun Safaris where I worked for almost a decade as a driver guide. As of 2014, I am self-employed, working as an exclusive driver guide for guests who have heard about me through word of mouth. Most of my current trips are booked through Beat The Track, whose experienced travel experts specialize in tailor-made safari trips. Today still I am improving myself as a wildlife & birding expert. I was acknowledged for my game-spotting ability by National Geographic who invited me to work for them on a photography & filming trip as a guide & wildlife spotter. Other than wildlife, I have a keen interest on the incredible variety of landscapes that can be found in Tanzania. I joined several geological and archaeological expeditions from the University of Holland to study the rock formations in Tarangire & Natron area, and the excavation of early human bones around Olduvai in Ngorongoro. In addition I guided a German film crew on their way from Lushoto, over Arusha National Park to the Ngorongoro Crater to assist in the making of a historical documentary of the national parks history. And I am still learning every day. Since 2018, I am the proud co-owner of Kimaso 'Wild Tanzania'. The safari company cofounded with my cousin Steven and the Belgian connection Thomas Verougstraete and Bram Markey. Together we are 'Wild Tanzania' hosting many wildlife safaris. Our guests arrive as a guests and leave as a friend. Karibu Tanzania!
