Does a Cheetah eat every day?
A full grown Cheetah will consume between 2.8kgs (6.2pounds) to 4kgs (8.8pounds) of meat. Males tend to eat more than females in any single meal if they manage to catch enough size of a prey animal.
After eating enough, a Cheetah can go for 2 to 5 more days without eating again commonly. A nursing mother Cheetah will have to eat almost every day because of the physiological demands during this time.
Cheetahs prey on smaller to medium size animals and they prey on animals such as Hare, Rabbits, Dik diks, Thomson's Gazelles, Grant's Gazelles, Impalas, baby Zebras and baby Wildebeests, et cetera.
Male Cheetahs have been observed to bring down relatively larger prey animals the size of a two-year old Wildebeest calves or even a full-grown Topi. And this is mainly possible when there are several males concerting their efforts to that.
A mother Cheetah will start teaching her cubs to hunt when the cubs are at the age of six months, and this will continue until the cubs are about 18months, the time they leave their mom and go to fend on their own.
Female Cheetah cubs will leave the mother and go on live solitarily while male cubs will keep their association as brothers, in most cases or form coalition with other males.
Are you a Cheetah lover and wish to experience the life of these beautiful animals in their natural habitats?
Join us on our safaris for incredible insights of not just Cheetahs but also other African animals.

Thought of visiting Ngorongoro Crater?
Ngorongoro Crater is one of the top tourist attractions in Tanzania, together with Serengeti, Mount Kilimanjaro and the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar.
Its formation goes back to between 2.5 - 3million of years ago when the work of volcanism took place in the area and created the current bowl-like geological structure. Technically, this is a caldera as it collapsed after the emission of magma from within.
This is the largest caldera in entire world with walls unbroken and its floor unflooded. It spans an area of about 260sq.kms/100sq.mi, with the depth of its wall standing at 610m/2000ft.
The floor of this famous Ngorongoro Crater is dominated by open-grassland, with three patches of woodlands, two large swamps, a lake and two major streams of water.
Ngorongoro Crater is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and a home to a population of about 25'000 large animals, mostly hoofed animals.
It boasts about 550species of birds and the highest density of mammalian predators in Africa, including the densest population of Lions.
It is one of the few places in the world with the last remaining populations of the most endangered Black Rhinoceros.
You can sometimes spot all the Big Five Animals of Africa in this Crater on a day - Imagine seeing the African Elephant, Black Rhinoceros, African Cape Buffalo, African Lion and African Leopard, in one day on your African Safari!!!
Some people have given the Ngorongoro Crater the comparison of the biblical "Garden of Eden".

You will never regret visiting this world famous Crater and treat yourself with once in a lifetime extraordinary experience.

Why Do male Lions have manes?
The function of manes in Lions has been a topic of scientific interest since the time of Darwin (1871) - and it was suggested that manes provide protection when male Lions engage into fights against other Lions. Further experimental studies on wild Lions connote that Lion manes play roles in mate - selection.
To date, no agreement has been reached on the primary functions of manes in Lions.
Across history, manes of male Lions have carried sense of admiration and fear, when on portraits or physical encounters.
Not all male Lions have manes. Those with manes are either Golden - maned or Dark - maned. Those without manes are termed as Maneless Lions or Scanty - maned Lions.
Many tourists dreaming of African Safaris, are partly aspired by encounters of "Big - dark maned Lions".
Are you one of those dreaming to have encounters of such big - maned Lions on safari in Africa? If YES, drop us a line or two and we will create a program that will provide better chances of encountering these impressive Kings of the beasts!

Elephants are sociable animals that live in small groups of related individuals. These groups are called herds and they are mostly led by the oldest female (matriarch)
When such groups grow larger than the carrying capacity, they split to form sub - groups which will still be living close to each other and all follow the matrilineal order. In the wet season groups merge and in the dry season they disband.
Males are known to live solitarily and sometimes unite to form temporary groups of all boys (boys' clubs).
Elephant's intelligence is amazing! Research shows that elephants have incredible memories and they can even remember their friends and enemies in the course of their life!
They morn when they loose other members of the family and remain with the dead for several days. All along, they try to cover the lost member with dirt, branches, leaves, twigs, while occasionally touching it carefully and sensitively.
Elephants are definitely some of the most amazing animals to watch!
Let us know if Elephants are in your bucket-list of travel to Africa and we will ensure that you have the best of it on your itinerary.

There are two species of Baboons found in East Africa - Olive Baboon and Yellow Baboon.
Olive Baboon is the most widespread of the Baboon family and it acquires its name from its dark green - grey color. They can be found in a wide range of habitat types such as grasslands, rocky areas, forests, woodlands and semi - arid areas. All these places should be close to watering points.
Males are generally larger in size than females, and they all live in groups termed as "troops", of between 30 to 80 individuals. There are cases where group sizes grow to as many as 200 in number.
Troops of Baboons are led by an alpha male which protects, defends, dominates and maintains order within the troop. There are also other males which are dominant and each has a ranked position. Female follow a linear, hierarchical order with respect to birth and kin - so there are also dominant females in their family whose lineage enjoys the privilege of social ranking.
Baboons are territorial and diurnal, and they feel more at home where there are trees that can be used as refuge during times of danger.
They rise up early in the morning to forage then take the middle of the day to rest and groom each other for bugs and removal of the old skin. Grooming is also used as a way of social bonding and it is practiced more between males and females, and females and their offspring. Then later in the afternoon, they wind up their day with more feeding before they go to the roosting sites to overnight.
Baboons are catholic feeders meaning that they eat almost everything just like humans - they are omnivores. They combine their plant diet with meat whenever possible - so they are both carnivores and herbivores.
In various parts of Africa, including Serengeti National Park, Olive Baboons have been seen killing baby antelopes and eat - this happens more during the dry season when food is not in constant supply.
This video was taken by one of our guides in the western parts of the Serengeti, where clie
