The magic of Tanzania extends beyond its exceptional wildlife and diverse landscapes. The country is home to a rich tapestry of cultures — some of which, to this day, follow a way of life largely unchanged by the modern world.
Among them are the Datoga — a vibrant tribe known for their traditional singing and dancing which is intricately woven into the very essence of their society.
Visit their boma for the opportunity to immerse yourself in their rich heritage and learn more about their time-honored traditions and captivating cultural practices.
This exclusive experience included in your booking at Mwiba Lodge.

Right now, the northern Serengeti is alive with the rhythmic beat of hooves — and we’ve had the privilege of witnessing some exhilarating river crossings with our guests so far.
The drama of the crossing season is expected to continue until October and our tented camps in Lamai and Kogatende immerse you in the heart of the action.

Glimpsing the Great Migration: where are they now?
Currently, the wildebeest herds are in the western region of the Serengeti – very close to Mila Tented Camp – and they’re expected to arrive in the north anywhere between July and August.
If you’re still looking to experience the Great Migration this year, consider a stay at the following tented camps:
📍From now until late July: Mila Tented Camp
📍From August to late October: Nyasi Tented Camp or Songa Migrational Camp
Governed by the whims of the weather and instinct, the movement of the Great Migration is difficult to predict. However, our travel experts are on hand to assist you in planning an unforgettable safari with us. Email [email protected] for more.

Our beekeeping initiative, which is run by our philanthropic arm — the Friedkin Conservation Fund — is creating a buzz!
Beekeeping, its products, and byproducts are a powerful tool for alleviating poverty within our communities, and we’re already seeing a positive impact with new jobs created and income generated. To date, we’ve harvested more than 850kg of honey from our apiaries at Legendary Lodge, Mwiba Lodge, and Makao Village.
The best part? You’ll have a chance to taste our artisan honey when you visit our lodges and camps as it’s featured as a key ingredient in a number of dishes on the menus.

A member of our team recently had a close encounter of the caracal kind at Mwiba Lodge.
She was lucky enough to capture this intimate moment with a beautiful female who we believe has taken up residence in the area surrounding the lodge. Turn your sound up to listen to the distinct call of the caracal.
