The protection of vultures is vital for the health of our ecosystems. In honour of Vulture Awareness Day, we are proud to highlight one of our most impactful anti-poaching initiatives to date.

Through the efforts of the Friedkin Conservation Fund Tanzania (FCFT), our conservation arm, we collaborated with Tanzanian authorities to dismantle a poaching syndicate targeting vultures for their heads, which were being used for traditional medicinal practices.

Utilizing our spotter plane, we identified three poaching camps on the periphery of the Serengeti National Park. This operation, conducted in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, led to the arrest of 15 individuals, the confiscation of 90 vulture heads, and the discovery and removal of 110 snares.

This successful operation underscores our commitment to protecting these magnificent creatures and ensuring the integrity of their natural habitat.

This beautiful female leopard was spotted by our head guide, Eugene, and his guests, on a recent visit to the rocky outcrop- and boulder-dotted region to the west of Songa Tented Camp – an area known for its big cats. Leopards can be timid but this female was far from frightened and they were fortunate enough to spend a couple of hours observing and admiring her.
