⚠️ Last chance to book your Kilimanjaro trek for this summer! ⛰️

The dry season July to October is the most popular time of the year to climb the highest peak on the African continent. This means popular routes like Marangu and Machame are getting quite crowded (and if you prefer overnight in huts, space is filling up fast)...

👉 We strongly recommend finalizing your trekking plans this month to secure your spot on one of the many routes that lead you to the top!

Reach out on DM to schedule a complimentary session with our team, and let’s map out together what this adventure could look like for you – from which routes to take based on your level of experience and physical capabilities, to the best guide to lead you to the top, accommodations along the way, and many more. Perhaps a few days at the beach afterwards to recover? 🏝

We are here and ready to start your customized travel journey!

Come with us to Zanzibar and visit the newly refurbished Michamvi Sunset Bay 🏝️

This is one of our personal favorites if you are looking for a quiet place to stay on Zanzibar island’s southeast coast! Why? We’ll let the photos do the talking, but to recap:

〰️ The location! It’s right on a quiet powder-white beach facing west across the Chwaka Bay, which means you also get incredible stunning ocean sunsets!

〰️ It’s small, so you feel more at home and immersed in island life. They only have 20 rooms, and each has a private terrace, balcony, or little garden. Especially the new "SUITE" rooms are a must-visit: especially if you are on your honeymoon!

〰️ They have lots of corners to chill out, read a book, have a cocktail, or just soak in the atmosphere.

We hope you enjoyed the tour! Would you stay there? Let us know in the comments below! 👇

Unlike many safari planners, we are based and operate directly from Tanzania. It might seem like an insignificant detail, but it does make a big difference:

👉 We know our country very well, both the popular areas and the ones only the locals know.

👉 We have firsthand knowledge and expertise about the wildlife, islands, national parks, and the best times to visit each destination.

👉 We know the best ways to go from A to Z, how long it takes, and we have developed important relations over the years to help our travelers move around easily and safely.

👉 We’re able to visit the lodges that we recommend regularly, continuously making sure they are still providing great experiences and maintaining excellent relationships with their teams so we can arrange special treats for our travelers.

👉 We’re on the ground, which means no middleman in terms of pricing or issues with time zones if you have questions or queries while on safari - you can get a hold of us at any point very easily, providing peace of mind.

👉 We understand the local culture, customs, and traditions, and are able to connect you with opportunities to experience it for yourself and to provide insights into etiquette, local communities, and conservation efforts, adding depth to your trip.

🎯 Remember to hit save so you can find us again when you’re ready to plan your safari!

Tap to read about the amazing experience this family had on their Tanzania Safari with us 👇

“We had an adventurous, amazing time! We were lucky enough to experience the Serengeti with all its inhabitants and wilderness! We witnessed a lioness hunting, elephants dueling and little gazelles playing. Our guides were very experienced and didn’t shy away to go the extra mile to show us the rarest of animals in their natural habitat. They put us at ease all the way through our amazing journey, entertained our children and teenagers, aged 10 - 19. They made sure we were always safe and well provided for. I can recommend Tanzania Safari Bug 100%, and I would travel with them again in a heartbeat.” - Maha M - TripAdvisor Review.

Another happy dance on our side 🙈! As much as we love co-planning trips with our travelers, we also LOVE hearing their feedback when they come back home and have a chance to reflect on their time in our beautiful country 💛! Thank you for choosing us!

👉 And if you know anyone looking to go on a safari, forward them this post! Perhaps we can help!

A spectacular (but at first hidden) leopard sight in Ruaha NP in Southern Tanzania!

Did you know that leopards are the most elusive and secretive of all big cats? They are quite skilled at stealth and hiding, which makes it extremely difficult to spot them in the bush!

Have you spotted or would you like to encounter a leopard in the wild yourself? Let's hear in the comments below!

It’s these heartfelt moments that let you dive deeper into Tanzania’s rich culture and connect with its fascinating people!

Don’t miss the opportunity to spend some time with the Maasai Community on your Tanzania Safari Adventure… Here’s what to expect on a visit 👇

First, it's important to know that several Maasai villages these days can feel more like a tourist attraction. However, we've traveled near and far to find Maasai communities that have managed to retain their authenticity, so that you can have a deeper and real insight into their fascinating history and traditions!

Your day with the Maasai might look like this:
- learn more about herbs & medicinal plants by venturing out on a guided nature walk
- sit in the shade of an acacia tree to learn traditional beading techniques with the mothers & daughters of the village
- set up a solar light with the Maasai elders and connect deeper while you exchange stories about their ancestors
- end your day at the bonfire and experience a unique overnight stay in a traditional Maasai Boma

👉 Our promise to you: no tourist traps as we want you to have a real insight and authentic cultural experience!

If you've looked at going on safari, you'll know there are a lot of safari lodges out there. So, how do you decide which one to stay at? 🤔

We always ask our clients three questions to help them decide:

Q1: Location Matters - Inside versus Outside?
If the travel budget is not a concern, staying inside a particular National Park offers an unparalleled connection to the park's wildlife. However, if you seek more affordability, there are always fantastic options outside the parks that can still provide a memorable safari experience.

Q2: Size Matters - Bush or Hotel Feel?
Are you looking for an intimate bush experience or do you prefer a larger hotel with solid walls? If you love falling asleep to the sounds of nature and don't mind wildlife roaming around your tent, then you will certainly love a tented camp stay. However, if the above makes you feel uncomfortable and you prefer more amenities like a pool, spa and perhaps even a TV, then you should option for a larger hotel.

Q3: What about Special Activities?
Would you like to venture out on a sundowner or private dining experience? What about an early sunrise balloon ride or a night game drive to encounter nocturnal wildlife? Not all lodges may be able to arrange special add-on activities to make your safari even more memorable.

From there, you can then start narrowing down the options you come across in your research.

👉 But if you are short on time and would prefer to stay somewhere vetted by a professional, so that there aren’t any bad surprises, and you are looking for personalized recommendations based on your style of travel, the atmosphere you like, access to specific amenities… etc., contact us!

Read this 👇 if you are overwhelmed trying to plan your Tanzania Safari...

First of all, feeling overwhelmed is totally understandable... The internet is filled with recommendations from bloggers, influencers, travelers commenting on forums, newspaper and magazine articles, and so on - each one with their own opinion and travel experiences...

To you it feels like there are a thousand-and-one lodges, so many different regions, parks, excursions, activities, etc... So how are you meant to know where to go, where to stay, what to do, what’s worth your time versus what you probably won’t enjoy, how to move around the country (and in what order), and so on...

Truthfully the answer is: you can't know! Yes, you can do your research, but sometimes it’s helpful to be able to ask your questions to someone on the ground, who has arranged lots of safari trips in Tanzania for people just like you... A local who knows very well all the areas, how to move around, where’s safe and much more...

👉 And that’s exactly what we do: we answer all of your questions, help you narrow down your options, co-create your itinerary and work out all the in-between logistics so you can feel confident about the decisions you’re making and that you are going to have the trip of a lifetime you’ve been dreaming of and saving up for.

That's why even after many years in tourism, we still have a five-star rating on TripAdvisor from our travelers. We don't take it lightly that our guests put their trust in our services, and we work hard to co-create your idea of a perfect trip while using our local knowledge and contacts. 💛

You are struggling at the moment to plan your dream safari? Feel free to ask any questions you have in the comments below or send us a DM to request a proposal.

Here’s a place in Tanzania we bet you haven’t heard of yet… 👇

🏝️ Pemba Island, part of the Zanzibar Archipelago, yet often overshadowed by its larger and more developed counterpart, Zanzibar Island itself.

If you’ve ever considered visiting Zanzibar but wondered whether it might be a little too touristy for you, Pemba might be the perfect alternative: close enough to Zanzibar that you can visit but further away that it still feels authentic.

Life on Pemba revolves around farming and fishing, which harmonizes perfectly with the lush scenery, deserted white-sand beaches, and spectacular sunsets.

The waters around the island are great for diving: the coral reefs are untouched, offering an extraordinary variety of marine life and providing clear visibility of 30 to 40 meters on most days. 🐠 🪸 🦈

And then, everywhere you go, the fragrant aroma of cloves fills the air; and the fresh seafood-based cuisine tastes out of this world. 🍴

Pemba is very special indeed! 💛 And it’s exactly the type of place we love our travelers to experience themselves...

Reviews like these just make us so happy 😍 But they are also not sheer luck:

Our clients, Dag and Karolina, contacted us last year to help them plan a safari to Tanzania. Their friends had already traveled previously and they wanted to venture out on a similar journey.

So we got in touch with them and discussed the various options - also amending their Serengeti stay to the travel route of the Great Wildebeest Migration.

And we couldn't be happier that they loved their trip! This makes us do a happy dance every single time 💃🏻🕺🏽.

Hot take from a Tanzania Safari Planner 👇

There’s so much more to Tanzania than just wildlife safaris!

If you’re anything like our clients, you probably like to get to know the culture and the people of the places you visit – see more than just the famous sights...

But as a traveler going somewhere new, it is also incredibly difficult to know where you should start, what’s a tourist trap, what's lesser known but more authentic, and so on...

Tanzania is a vast country, and the options really are endless:

⛰️ there’s, of course, Mount Kilimanjaro for hiking enthusiasts, but there are also smaller mountains...
🏝️ there’s the coast with sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters and lots of stunning off-shore islands you've probably never heard about...
🤝 there’s a variety of ethnic groups, each with its own language, traditions, and customs (no, it’s not just the Maasai)...
🚣🏽 there’s Lake Victoria & Lake Tanganyika, both quite large, but each with its own set of activities...

And so much more...

We know your vacation time is limited, but if you give us the chance, we’ll help you see a more varied side of Tanzania - one that leaves you with a better understanding of its culture, people, and landscapes.

When done right, a safari is an epic trip that you will never forget. But when combined with some of these other aspects, it’s a transformative journey that will shape the lens through which you see the world - and if you love the sound of that, leave us a 💛 in the comments below! We’d love to connect with you!

When it comes to safaris, our advice is to worry less about accommodations and more about your safari guide!

Now don’t get us wrong, a good lodge in a good location is important. However, if there is one aspect that can really make or break your safari experience, it’s the quality of your guide!

How experienced they are, their tracking skills, wildlife knowledge, personality and dedication to *YOU* the traveler having a memorable experience.

This is what we look for in all of the guides we work with and, if you read our reviews, you’ll see our guides are mentioned time and time again for how amazing they were.

We personally also always love guides that have an adventurous spirit and the ability to tell stories. It’s especially important if you bring little ones on board to keep them engaged throughout the experience.

And they all have powder-white sand, a turquoise sea, and year-round temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius.

Planning a safari does not have to be overwhelming. It can be easy (and fun)!

A safari is a journey into the heart of the wilderness – an amazing opportunity to witness African wildlife in their natural habitat and come across the most astonishing landscapes. However, it is true that it can be a complex task as there are numerous factors to consider.

🛞 Type of Safari (Self-Drive versus Guided; Private versus Group)
☀️ Seasonality (Timing can impact your experience: dry versus wet season)
🐾 Location (Not just the country matters, but which location favors your wildlife preferences)
🥾 Activities (Wildlife & Nature; Cultural Encounters; Water-Based; Walking; and more)
⛺ Budget and Accommodation (Bush Camps, Safari Lodges or Hotels)

Whether you are a honeymooning couple; a family with kids; a photographer; an adventurous soul looking for experience off-the-beaten-track; or a solo traveler; there is a safari just for you. You just have to know the when, where and what. And we are here to guide you through the many available options!

What we have learned on our journey organizing meaningful travel experiences in Tanzania...

💚 Meaningful travel is all about embracing the destination with an open heart and a curious mind. It also means looking beyond the surface and immersing in the local culture to learn more about their unique traditions.

⚠️ These days a lot of cultural experience being offered to travelers in Tanzania can feel inauthentic due to the adaptations made for tourists.

🤝🏼 But don’t worry, we got you covered, as we are constantly looking for ways to have meaningful cultural exchanges that benefits both. Five of the cultural encounters our travelers always rave about are:

👉 Maasai Boma Visit with Solar Light Donation
👉 Meet the various tribes in Mto wa Mbu Village
👉 Market Visit for a deeper insight
👉 Morning Hunt with the Hadzabe
👉 Nature Walk with Maasai Shaman

💡 Being a local company, showing our travelers the “real” Tanzania is everything to us and we’re here, every step of the way, to help you to connect with the local communities and experience the culture.

Does this sound like the type of experience you’d love to have if you went to Tanzania? Save this post for when you’re ready to start planning your dream trip or feel free to start a conversation with our team via Direct Message.

Is it cheaper to book your own safari or use a tour operator?

The short answer (and probably an unpopular opinion) is that you won't actually save money by booking everything directly; in fact, it will most likely cost you more.

Let us explain why and unpack some benefits of why you should use a tour operator:

👉 Expert advice:
We live and work here; we know the country inside and out; and pride ourselves on being experts. We regularly travel into the bush, understand the logistics of a safari, and move around the country, only recommending accommodations and experiences we have personally vetted!

👉 Dedicated consultant:
We will put together an itinerary that runs smoothly from start to finish and is completely tailored to your requirements, style, and budget. A dedicated consultant is available at all times to answer all your questions. It is a real person and not an automated call center assistant.

👉 Save money:
If you book a lodge through us, it will cost less than if you book directly or via an online booking agent. We have built up valuable partnerships over the years and negotiate trade discounts because of the volumes of travelers we handle. Often booking directly means paying too much, and misjudging the travel times in between on your safari route.

⚠️ Of course, everyone believes they are the best, so don't just take our word for it – read through our customers' reviews on our page or head over to TripAdvisor. If you find another tour operator that offers a similar product for less, then it is probably cheaper for a good reason.

🙋 Have a question? Send us a direct message or leave us a comment below. We’re always transparent about how we work.

If you are planning on going on safari this year, read this first:

👉 Myth #1: Safari Lodges are Expensive
When you search online, you’ll come across plenty of glitzy options, which are indeed “expensive" but there are also lots of affordable options that are still stylish, comfortable, well-located, and provide you with a great game-viewing experience. We work with various accommodation partners that offer great value for money.

👉 Myth #2: Safari Lodges in Africa are Basic
Obviously, the luxurious properties will come with all amenities and even a personal butler, but even a good mid-range lodge will be far beyond basic and cater to your personal comfort – whether you like to enjoy an outdoor shower overlooking the Serengeti or need a hairdryer in a solar-based camp…

👉 Myth #3: Safari Lodges in the wild lack WiFi
You will be surprised, but the majority of camps and lodges will have a functioning WiFi connection – even in the middle of Serengeti National Park. While “hiccups” with technology do happen from time to time, it is very rare, and this can obviously happen anywhere in the world you travel to.

When it comes to accommodation, we only recommend an overnight stay for you that we have personally visited and experienced. We know the local conditions on-site and how one lodge compares to another, so we can answer any questions you have and help you find the best fit for you and your budget.

Was this helpful? Make sure to give us a follow if you’re dreaming of going on safari this year! We share weekly tips and behind-the-scenes of our safaris and experiences.
