Just now - The first big rain of the short rainy season - Music to our ears and beauty for our eyes. This rain in Kikwe is one month late, and six months since the last significant rain.

Today, Elia and Edna delivered lab supplies to Kikwe Junior Secondary School. Dashir Lodge & Safaris donates these every year for the Form IV (about grade 10) practical science end-of-year examinations in mid-November. There are 181 students sitting for these exams.

A stunning view, like none other (way better in person!), from SS's room balcony at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge on the crater rim. It's 2300 metres above sea level and 600 metres above the crater floor!

SS had a neat lion pride experience in Central Serengeti, the best place in the world for big cats (in my humble opinion). It looks like this mama has her paws full. Where are the other mamas?
Interesting that the whole clan had no worries with sharing the road with the vehicles, literally creating a most glorious traffic jam! Off-roading is not allowed in the national parks, so this was a very special safari moment up close and personal.

July 19 was a VERY special day! The government torch and delegation came to bless and officially open Dashir-Kikwe Health Centre. The celebration included the laying of the Freedom torch cornerstone. Every year the torch travels for several months to visit and confirm the good work of building the...

Snacks with the Elephants

Getting close to elephants at Tarangire National Park is a safari staple … lots and lots of them. Having elephants join for a snack at the Tarangire Safari Lodge reception was a nice surprise for our guests - just happened a few hours ago! Have a nice day. 🤗

The sunrise balloon ride, if you’re willing to fork out the extra cash, is a once-in-a-lifetime safari staple. What you see along the way is a safari surprise - luck of the draw. Have a nice day. 🤗 (Video from SS last week, in TZ WhatsApp group.)

These energetic Manitobans came “home” today to Dashir after safari, with singing and dancing to Tanzanian music. “Way way better than we ever expected, in every aspect.” And they already had high expectations. Have a nice day. 🤗
