Marangu Route – Mount Kilimanjaro
The Marangu Route, also known as the "Coca-Cola Route," is the only route on Kilimanjaro that offers hut accommodations instead of camping. It is considered one of the easier routes in terms of terrain but has a lower summit success rate due to its shorter acclimatization period.

On Day 2, Captain Keith and the Baraka Trails team continue their journey, pushing their limits as they strive to summit this giant African mountain.

Key Facts About Marangu Route
Duration: 5 or 6 days
Distance: ~72 km (45 miles) round trip
Accommodation: Huts with bunk beds
Scenery: Moderate but not as diverse as other routes
Difficulty: Moderate (steep in some parts, rapid altitude gain)
Summit Success Rate: ~50% (higher for those taking 6 days)
Best for: Those who prefer hut accommodations and a shorter trek.

À nos côtés, il n’y a qu’une seule équipe de porteurs – et c’est une même famille. Des frères, des cousins, des beaux-frères, tous nés et élevés près de cette montagne, qui pour eux représente bien plus qu’un travail : c’est la terre qui nourrit leur famille, l’espoir d’un avenir meilleur. Ensemble, ils forment un groupe uni et solide, habitués à supporter des charges lourdes et à gravir ces pentes comme on respire. Leur calme et leur solidarité se lisent dans chaque geste, chaque sourire échangé au détour du sentier. Leurs journées en montagne ne sont pas des aventures, mais une nécessité pour que leurs enfants puissent aller à l’école, peut-être même, pour certains, jusqu’à l’université.

Feeling the effects of altitude sickness; my blood vessels are visible on my face, turning all red. On his part, Selim has digestive problems nouswhile Osama seems to spend his time in the toilet éwhich makes us laugh a lot!

The team shows incredible solidarity. They are attentive and clean, creating a family atmosphere. Singing in the morning has become a ritual that gives us energy the road. before we get back on

We also take the time to meditate each on our side, thinking about the reason behind our project, Human Peak, and especially the cause we are fighting for: the Palestinian cause.
