Cheetahs are members of the big cat family, found mostly in Africa and small parts of Asia. They hunt antelope and small prey like gazelles. Unlike other big cats such as leopards, cheetahs have smaller heads and a lightweight body, both of which help them accelerate quickly, making them the fastest sprinters on land.

Cheetahs also have large nasal passages and lungs that allow for rapid oxygen intake, which is crucial during those high-speed chases. This adaptation helps them maintain their top speed for short bursts, typically around 20 to 30 seconds.

Fun Fact: Did you know 'pacing' is the giraffe's master art of walking?

Giraffes move with a unique, graceful stride called "pacing," where they swing both legs on one side forward at the same time. Both front and back legs on one side move forward together, then the other two legs on the other side move forward. This wide stance helps them maintain balance and stability, even with their towering height.

The spread of their legs is a functional adaptation that allows them to cover long distances efficiently, even at a slow pace. With this distinctive movement, giraffes glide across the savannah, their long necks and legs working in harmony, perfectly suited to their environment and making them the gentle giants of the plains. Meet the Resilient Grazers of Tarangire!

Warthogs are often seen kneeling to graze on grass or using their strong snouts to dig up roots and bulbs, their main food source. In Tarangire, they usually roam in small groups, consisting of a mother and her young, or sometimes lone males.
These hardy creatures can survive without water for months, but love to cool off in mud or water to protect themselves from the sun and insects.

When startled, their tails shoot up like little flags as they dash off, offering a delightful sight to safari-goers. Despite their small size, warthogs are tough survivors, seeking refuge in burrows to shield themselves from predators and harsh conditions.
