Our guide Wilson captured this handsome leopard posing in the open. Leopard can be tricky and getting a shot of them out in the open like this is not something you come across every day. We are really proud of Wilson’s photography and guiding for amazing photos.

The pangolin is such a rare site on safari. They are a critically endangered animal, mostly due to poaching for purported medical use in some Eastern cultures. What an amazing sighting in Tarangire!

Materuni Waterfall is a nice short hike that can be done on a day trip to Moshi. This can be combined with a visit to the local Chagga tribe who live on the slope of Kilimanjaro and are excellent farmers - growing fruits (especially bananas) and coffee. Here the Coe family spends some time with a flap-necked chameleon along the path to Materuni.

We are thrilled to have the Coe family on safari with us. They wanted to spend some time around Moshi before safari - so we made a 2 day detour to Moshi staying at and we visited Materuni Waterfall on the slope of Mount Kilimanjaro and spent some time in Moshi town. This is a great add on to any safari package. Follow us to see what they do on their trip! Ask us to plan a trip for you and your family or friends.

We are proud to sponsor a beehive for the Wild Survivors Day project in Upper Kitete Village in Tanzania. Human- animal conflict is one of the highest risks for elephants. They are huge. Their migration corridors have been disrupted and unfortunately they can do a lot of damage quickly to the farms through which they migrate. But did you know that elephants are terrified of bees? Wild Survivors has an awesome project that we are supporting where they are building beehive fences in this corridor to reduce crop damage, this protecting the elephants! And this is a great source for honey. The women of Upper Kitete are learning beekeeping skills and harvesting honey in an order to sell to support themselves. This is a WIN-WIN-WIN situation. Please let us know if you would like to build a visit to Upper Kitete and the Wild Survivors project into your itinerary or if you’d like more information about this amazing project.

This morning I was enjoying my chai when I heard some birds in the garden. Red-cheeked cordon bleu! I ran for my camera. But they left by the time I got it. Instead I got a close up portrait of a red-billed firefinch. I won’t complain! I’m realizing there are a ton of birds right in our yard and I’m trying to capture them in pictures for you all to see the beautiful birds of Tanzania. Karibu sana!

Did you know that cheetahs are considered a threatened species? Fortunately the Serengeti boasts a healthy population of cheetahs for now. Poaching, habitat loss and fragmentation all contribute to reduced population size. The Serengeti Cheetah project is one research project ongoing to investigate this species and to determine conservation possibilities.

Our guide watched this beautiful young leopard just last week. She was caught in a bad spot. A place with few trees and many lions. They stole her meal. She managed to find refuge in this tree for the night. And we hope she snuck off when no one was watching. What a gorgeous capture of this pretty lady!
