Couples trip? Who knew camping could be so romantic?! 🥰 🌹⛺️💍

We are so confident that you will enjoy a tailor made wildlife safari from African Traits, but it’s important that you don’t just take our word for it..

Did you know we have hundreds of EXCELLENT reviews on Tripadvisor? Our years of experience and expertise are truly reflected in our clients positive feedback..

Just like Lorenz who celebrated with his newly engaged fiancée whilst on safari in Tanzania, with beautiful luxury camping options hand picked by . He said ‘African Traits planned a beautiful trip through Tanzania and Zanzibar. Our safari guide Benjamin took us through the beautiful nature of Tanzania for over a week and was able to teach us a lot of details about animals and plants. The packed lunches were much higher quality compared to the other organizers, here you get real meals and not just sandwiches. The accommodations were all as described and beautiful. The safari far exceeded our expectations. African Traits allows you to plan a safari exactly according to your ideas and is always in good hands. They also helped us celebrate our engagement during the safari and organized everything in a camp. African Traits is definitely preferable to other organizers as they care about people as a person and not just look at a large number of guests.’

Did you know? Nature has its own clean-up crew! 🚮

Vultures are vital in disease prevention and maintaining ecosystem balance by efficiently consuming and disposing of the final remains of dead animals..

Often portrayed as the villain in movies these birds have an incredible role in disease prevention - neutralising pathogens with their special digestive systems. They also maintain eco-system balance reducing the amount of food available for flies, rodents and stray dogs which keeps their populations in check!

In National parks such as the Serengeti, where large migrations and predator-prey dynamics create many carcasses, vultures are crucial to keeping the environment free from decay and disease 🦅🪶

You see? Natures very own clean up crew 🙌🏽🗑️🧼

One of the many perks of a safari with African Traits in Tanzania is the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife up close, including the often-overlooked vulture species 🦅🧡

Did you know, leopard spots are called rosettes? 🐆

Leopards mostly hunt at night and have seven times better night vision than humans. They are also solitary animals that like to spend time alone.

Leopards are the smallest of the big cats but are known for their agility and can run up to 58 km/h. They can also leap 3 meters vertically and 6 meters horizontally...

Do you see how beautiful this animal is and the markings on the baby?

For your best chances of seeing a leopard in Tanzania you will need to head to central Serengeti. Although they can live in a range of habitats, leopards favour open bush, dotted with large trees and rocky kopjes. Never heard of kopjes? Make sure you are following to learn more from our future trivia posts..

Just like Leah and her friend who enjoyed a camping safari in the Ngorongoro crater, Serengeti National park and Tarangire - Tanzania. We were so pleased to host Leah for a second trip, she said ‘This was my second time going on safari with African Traits, and again, it was amazing! My friend, Emma and I, were keen to do a multiple night safari, before the trip even began we felt well looked after with African Traits. Godfrey went above and beyond in getting us to a local pharmacy when Emma needed some urgent medical attention. He was super understanding, helpful, kind and definitely saved our trip in Tanzania! On safari, our guide was fantastic! We spotted the Big 5, among countless other amazing animals and scenery I’ll never forget. The chef we had was fantastic as well! With myself having Coeliac Disease, and Emma with Type 1 Diabetes, we are those travellers with “annoying” dietary requirements. But that was no troubles throughout the entire trip! Everything was catered for and considered in our meals. I was very impressed, couldn’t have done it better myself!’

Did you know? Black rhinos are critically endangered, with only around 27,000 remaining in the wild 🦏

There are five species of Rhino - Two are found in Africa and three in Asia. Northern white rhinos recently became extinct in the wild, there are only two remaining in a conservancy in Kenya. Black rhinos have doubled in number in the last decade but numbers are still a fraction of what they have been known to be in the past..

Their thick skin acts like protective plating but is sensitive, as the blood vessels are close to the skin’s surface and can easily be scarred. Of course we know the famous feature of a rhinoceros is its horn! These brilliant beasts are known for their awesome, giant horns that grow from their snouts – hence the name “rhinoceros’, meaning “nose horn”…

Did you know Rhinos are one of only a few megaherbivores (plant-eaters) in the world? They maintain the diverse African grass and woodlands on which countless other species depend..

By far the hardest animal sighting to ensure you can tick all ‘big five’ from your checklist. Tanzania is focused on conservation and anti-poaching measures to ensure the survival of the black rhino and your best chances of seeing them are within the Serengeti National park and the Ngorongoro crater..

So, have you learnt enough about the Big 5? We can promise you that seeing them for yourself is so much better than reading our trivia posts! Ready for an adventure? Then send us a message or visit our website to book a safari of your dreams in Tanzania..

Gorilla trekking in Rwanda? Let’s go ✈️🧳🙌🏽🦍

Limited vacation time? No problem! We have the perfect 3 Day trip for you… Volcanoes National Park Gorilla Trekking Safari, Rwanda

Day 1 – Kigali
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by a member of our African Traits team. Starting with a City Tour of Kigali. Visit the craft centres and the genocide memorial site. Learning about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide. Continuing the tour to view the new city developments, a testament to Rwandas resilience. After lunch drive to Ruhengeri. Ruhengeri is the base location for Gorilla trekking and has great views of the surrounding volcanoes.

Day 2 – Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla Trek
There are a total of 96 gorilla permits available each day with a maximum of eight trekkers visiting any one group. Trekking can take from two to six or more hours if the gorillas move before the park rangers locate them the next morning. The guides stop frequently to allow trekkers a chance to rest and take photos along the way. Upon sighting the gorillas, you will stay with them for a magical hour as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting; raising their young. Coming face to face with a giant silverback must truly be one of the greatest wildlife experiences on earth! After the trek, rejoin your driver Guide for a transfer to your lodge for lunch. Afternoon, enjoy a visit of the spectacular and scenic Twin Lakes – Bulera and Ruhondo.

Day 3 – Depart
After breakfast, depart from foothills of the volcanoes and drive on a scenic drive to Kigali. Before being safely transferred back to the airport by our team for your flight home.
