ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK
Often overlooked ,is in fact a treasure ,a tapestry of habitats ,teeming with animals and birds .From the lush swamps of the Ngurudoto Crater to the tranquil beauty of he Momela Lakes and the rock alpine heights of Mount Meru ,the terrain of the Park is as varied as it is interesting .Zebra graze on the Parks red grasslands ,and Leopard walk next to water falls in the shadowy forest . More than 400 species of bird ,both migrant and resident ,can be found in Arusha National Park alongside rare primates such as Black-and -White Colobus Monkey. The rewarding climb up Mount Meru passes through forest of dripping Spanish moss ,carpeted with clover rising to open heath ,spiked with giant lobelia plants . TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
During Tarangire is dry season ,day after day of cloudless skies seem to suck all moisture from the landscape ,turning the waving grasses to platinum blonde,brittle as straw . The Tarangire River is a mere shadow of itself ,just a trickle of water choked with wildlife . Thirsty Antelope and Elephant have wandered hundreds of parched kilometers to Tarangire is permanent water source . Herds of elephant three hundred strong dig in the damp earth of the riverbed in search of underground springs,while wildebeest ,zebra buffalo ,and gazelle mingle with rarer species such as eland and oryx oround each shrinking lagoon . LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
Tucked below the majesty of the Rift Valley wall ,Lake Manyara National Park is a thin degree band of forest ,flanked on one side by the sheer 600 metres high red and brown cliffs of the escarpment and the white - hot shores of an ancient soda lake . This wedge of surprisingly varied vegetation supports a wealth of wild life ,nourished by the the streams flowing out of the escarpment base and water falls spilling over the cliffs,
Acacia woodland shelter the parks famous tree-climbing lions ,laying languidly among the branches in the heat of the day .Feeding in the undergrowth or dozing in the dry river beds are the country densest population of buffalo and elephant

The rutting season is a frenzied three week long bout of territorial conquests and mating ,followed by survival of the fittest as the 40 kilometer long columns plunge through crocodile infested water on the annual exodus north . Replenishing the species is the brief population explosion that produces more than 8000 calves a day before the 1000 kilometer pilgrimage begins again. NGORONGORO CRATER
Nearly two million years ago ,Ngorongoro Peak towered almost as high as Kilimanjaro . Both these Mountains formed the highest peaks in Africa at that time .The Ngorongoro Peak collapsed beneath the volcano to the form a caldera ,the largest unbroken and unflooded in the world today . Although a geological feature formed by the withdrawal of a molten in this manner is correctly called a caldera ,many people traditionally used the term crater ,and hence Ngorongoro caldera is described as a crater in all records available . In the forest and the swamped areas one can find hippos ,rhinos ,elephant ,water bucks boboons and monkeys.Ngorngoro is one of the few places you are quite sure of spotting rhino. In the 1960 the crater had 100 rhino permanently living there ,but because of poaching ,the number was decreased to under 20 in few years . Now the illegal shooting appears to t be under control so number of rhinos are stabile and even rising
The rhinos are protected by a number of rangers ,and the motto seems to be (it is better that 10 rangers to die protecting the rhinos ,than one rhino to be shot ,
