What you might not be aware of though, are the bad conditions under which many of the tour guides are working. Most of the money you will pay when booking a tour to a national park, will be used for the park fees. The bulk of what's left, stays in the pockets of the tour operators, but your friend the guide who carries all your food and supplies up the mountain, can earn as little as 5$ for a whole day's work. To help local guides against the present exploitation, we have founded this society for sustainable tourism in northern Tanzania and southern Kenya. The people in our network of local guides are guaranteed fair salaries for their superior skills, hard work and enthusiastic guidance through unique landscapes.
