Jiranileo took to the world stage on Tuesday as a start-up competition finalist at the UN Tourism World Forum for Gastronomy Tourism. Out of over 200 start ups from over 60 countries, Jiranileo was the runner-up in the competition, which makes us proud! We made invaluable connections at the Forum and will continue to benefit from our relationship with UN Tourism and Basque Culinary Center as we grow towards our vision of being the AirBnb of food tourism across Africa.

I bet you didn't know, but Jiranileo started as an idea to connect people over meals in Tanzania. We dreamed, we experimented, we tweaked, we tried some more. Fast forward to 2024, and we have this incredible food tourism model for Africa. And if that wasn't enough, Jiranileo is recognized globally by the UN and the world's experts in food tourism - right when the global dialogue is shifting to how to make the African continent a food destination.
We are here.
We are ready to scale.
And we are so excited.

Remember as a child in school, eagerly raising your hand because you had the answer? Yesterday the Secretary General of UN Tourism gave a call to action to start the gastronomy tourism sector in Africa so that the world can know the diverse cuisines of Africa. And Jiranileo was sitting in the audience, trying not to raise our hands and shout: "We have the answer! Over here in Zambia!" :-)
