Greater kudus are one of the largest antelopes. They produce one of the loudest sounds made by antelope in the form of a gruff bark. Kudu horns have spirals, which allow males to spar by interlocking horns. The males then proceed to shove and twist until one opponent is knocked off balance and thrown down.

Lions live in groups called prides. There can be from from 3 to 30 lions in a pride. A pride contains many females and their young, and a few males. The lionesses rule the pride, working together to hunt and raise the cubs. But the adult males play an important role as well. They guard the pride and protect its territory.

Mikumi is often compared to Serengeti for its rich wildlife inhabitants. The most seen wildlife includes elephants, buffaloes, wildebeest, sable, eland, Liechtenstein’s hartebeest, giraffes, elephants, lions, zebras; spotted hyena, jackal, leopards, crocodiles and endangered wild dogs, and the chances are high to find yellow baboons near Kiboga at the southern end of the park. The chances of seeing tree-climbing lions are more than Lake Manyara National Park.

Tanzania’s best safari parks can be split into two groups - the Northern Circuit and the Southern Circuit and both offer incredible game viewing opportunities. The Northern Circuit is the most popular and it’s worth remembering that, as a popular safari destination, large crowds can be expected, especially during the high season. If you want to avoid crowds, I recommend the Southern Circuit, which typically sees fewer numbers than the Northern Circuit, whose destinations are known for being the best places to spot the Big Five.

FEMALE LIONS (LIONESSES) DO MOST OF THE HUNTING

Lionesses are the primary hunters of the pride. They are smaller and more agile than males and they use teamwork to bring an animal down. After a successful hunt, all the lions in the pride share the meal. But there is a pecking order, with the adult males eating first, followed by the lionesses and finally the cubs. The males protect both the pride and the pride’s territory (which can extend up to 100 square miles) from competing prides and other predators. Anywhere from 85-90% of the hunting is done by the females in a given pride.

Spending time with the Hadza people is quite a culture shock. They don't live by the same rules or follow time as we do. Mikumi National Park is well-known park in Tanzania. The park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffes buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in large number), leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal.
