To both locals and expected forgein tourists visiting for various holidays as well as honeymoon. Tanzania officially has recordered 509 total cases with 21 deaths, and like many other countries in Africa and other parts of the world did not impose lockdowns or curfew, but we had closed schools and few businesses including tourism.

Tanzania became first country to reopen airspace to international travels as well as tourists and also for local tourism. Already a special division in tourism is set to deal with any case of infection. There are ambulances added in our parks and various facilities set. There is no mandatory quarrantine when visiting, but serious follow up and tracing. This is to allow freedom of movement and ensuring guests enjoy their time in Tanzania. In addition there are published and enacted Procedures to ve followed by tourism stakeholders.

Now, with the global trends we expect few tourists are likely to visit but yet are optimistic for better. It is however important because the nature has been recovering itself for several months and now there are more to be easily seen. With few cars in our parks especially Ngorongoro, I would recommend you to visiting between now and November. Our beaches will be less crowded and sea safaris for snorkeling and diving will have plenty to see.

But to locals and residents in the country, it is time now to support each other's. By traveling you are helping properties not to go bankrupt especially those annoucing offers so as to stay open, offer jobs and ensure they survive this time. Those living in Dar and looking for nice calm beaches, take a 45 minutes drive from ferry to Kimbiji or take a 5 hours drive to Kilwa. Are you in Zanzibar, visiting the mainland germs and explore mountains in Magoroto, Lushoto, and many other parts.

If you have never been in safari, now it is time. Already properties are giving up to 25% discounts, so this is the right time.

So if anyone needs help planning a safari or travel program in Tanzania and needs for a friendly operator and professional, please write to me. I offer free consultation so send me your questions anytime.

I have partnered with several properties; KambaKochi Kimbiji, Burudika Tented Lodges, Mikumi Wildlife Camp, Selous River Camp, Lawns Hotel Lushoto, and many others and we are giving up to 30% Off.

Dear friends of Tail Spotter Safari

With great pleasure we can announce that with immediate effect the Tanzanian government will allow tourists to re-enter the country - whether by plane, ship or road. The 14-day quarantine that was previously required is no longer necessary. All those entering the country must confirm that they are not ill with Covid-19.

Every tourist is requested to observe the protective measures required by the World Health Organization in the country, i.e. to keep distance, wear a mouth guard and wash their hands as often as necessary. Employees of tourist facilities should also be monitored to ensure that tourists not only enter the country in good health, but also leave it in good health.

We hope that tourism will get going again as soon as possible. After months without income, the situation for employees in the tourism industry - and of course for the owners of tourist facilities - is very tense.

Stay healthy, have fun planning and welcome to Tanzania and Tail Spotter Safari.
We are looking forward to seeing you.

United by their distinctive Black and White striped Coats, Zebras are equids and members of the Horse family. Its believed that the Zebra stripes work like Comouflage, its harder for the predators to determine how many they are in groups when they stand together. The stripes also make them appear unattractive to small predators and each Zebra has Unique stripes.

Did you know that Ol Doinyo Lengai (2890m) is the only active volcano in ?
And on its base is Lake Natron which is believed to be the world’s most important breeding site for the accounting for 75% of world's flamingo population. Making the area not only appealing for its landscape but also an amazing bird-watching site.

20/02/2020

MOZAMBIQUE/TANZANIA: Sidi Mubarak Bombay (1820–1885) was an African guide who participated in numerous expeditions by 19th century British explorers to East Africa.

He was a waYao, born in 1820 on the border of what is Tanzania and Mozambique and as a young boy was captured by Arab slavers. His captors made him march to the slave market in Kilwa, in Tanzania, where he was sold in exchange for some cloth, never again to see his family.

Next he was sailed on a dhow to the Gujarat area of India. His owner gave him the slave name of “Mubarak”. Bombay lived as a slave in India many years and learned Hindi. He was emancipated after his owner died, and returned to Africa.

In Africa, Bombay met John Hanning Speke, who asked him to join his expedition to find the source of the Nile River. Bombay and Speke communicated with each other in Hindi, as it was the only language both of them understood. Bombay was well regarded by the British explorers; in the words of Burton, "The gem of the party, however, is one Sidi Mubarak, who has taken to himself the agnomen of 'Bombay.'"

Between 1856 and 1876, Bombay participated in expeditions by Speke and other English explorers, including Richard Francis Burton, Henry Morton Stanley and Verney Lovett Cameron. When Stanley went in search of David Livingstone, Bombay was appointed chief of the caravan. In 1873 Bombay walked across the continent of Africa from the East coast to the West Coast.

His role in exploration was recognised by the Royal Geographical Society of London, which presented Bombay a silver medal in 1876 for his assistance to Speke as they strived to find the source of the Nile River. Bombay died in 1885 at the age of 65.

A leopard is the master of stealth.
Many cats adopt cat-crawling as a technique in hunting.
When domestic cats do this near us, they are being playful and ready to pounce on something.
This leopard is hunting. They are an ambush predator, and will stalk its prey, and not too far from it, if there is little vegetation to block its vision, it will sink down as low as possible so that it can silently creep up to its prey undetected.
They are downwind when they do this, so there is no chance that their target can smell the approaching predator.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area is in northern Tanzania. It's home to the vast, volcanic Ngorongoro Crater and “big 5” game (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino). Huge herds of wildebeests and zebras traverse its plains during their annual migration. Livestock belonging to the semi-nomadic Maasai tribe graze alongside wild animals. Hominin fossils found in the Olduvai Gorge date back millions of years.
Serengeti National Park, in northern Tanzania, is known for its massive annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Seeking new pasture, the herds move north from their breeding grounds in the grassy southern plains. Many cross the marshy western corridor’s crocodile-infested Grumeti River. Others veer northeast to the Lobo Hills, home to black eagles. Black rhinos inhabit the granite outcrops of the Moru Kopjes.
