Trekking or hiking poles are useful tools during the ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro for several reasons:
Balance and Stability:
Mount Kilimanjaro has varying terrains, including rocky paths and steep slopes. Trekking poles provide additional points of contact with the ground, enhancing balance and stability. This is especially crucial when navigating uneven surfaces or during descents.
Weight Distribution:
Climbing Kilimanjaro involves carrying a backpack with necessary gear. Trekking poles help distribute the weight more evenly across your upper body, reducing strain on your legs and knees. This can be particularly beneficial during long hikes and challenging sections.
Reducing Impact on Joints:
The use of trekking poles can help absorb shock and reduce the impact on your knees, ankles, and hips. This is particularly important during the descent, where the pressure on joints can be significant.
Aiding in Uphill Climbs:
When ascending steep sections of the mountain, trekking poles can provide additional support by allowing you to use your arms to help propel yourself upward. This can help conserve energy and reduce fatigue.
Enhancing Endurance:
By distributing the workload between your upper and lower body, trekking poles can contribute to improved endurance. This can be valuable during the longer trekking days on Mount Kilimanjaro.
Assistance in Tricky Sections:
In certain sections of the climb, such as scree or loose gravel, trekking poles can act as anchors and assist in maintaining traction. They offer stability on challenging surfaces, preventing slips and falls.
Adaptable Length:
Many trekking poles are adjustable, allowing you to adapt their length based on the terrain. Shorter lengths are suitable for uphill climbs, while longer lengths provide stability during descents.
Use as Tent Poles:
In some cases, trekking poles can be used as tent poles if you are camping during your Kilimanjaro trek. This can help reduce the overall weight of your gear.

Africa's most endangered!
The two species of the African rhinos are the most endangered large mammals, due to their highly demanded horns.Althogh both appear grey to dark grey, they are often referred to as the Black-(deceros bicornis) or white(ceratotherium simum) rhinos. The word "white rhino" is derived from the Dutch word"weit"which means wide, refaring to the animals wide mouth shape, which has a large square shaped muzzle and his much larger than the unpredictable, ferocous "black" relative. This also reflects the fact that it is a pure grazer and feeds by cropping grass. The referred "Black rhino is a browser that usually feeds on shrubs and bushes. It achieves this by using its long, prehensile upper lip which is perfectly equiped for the purpose. The highly demanded horns are made of fibers known as "keratin",therefore it's not attached to the forehead bone.
The best place to view the Black rhino in its natural habitat is in the Ngorongoro crater. Even though their is a rhino conservation area as well in the Serengeti National park and a white rhino breeding site in Mkomazi National Park in Kilimanjaro region in Tanzania.

THE AFRICAN GIANTS-ELEPHANTS-(loxodanta africana)-Tembo ;
Elephants are the largest living mammals on earth, bulls weighing at about 60Kg at birth to 6000 kg when fully matured, and females weighs 3000 to 3500Kg. They consume about 250-280 kgs of vegetation daily, thorn trees such as acacia and baobab barks are their delicacy. Ely's can live up to 100 years, usually in family groups of between 2-20 females and young ones. Full grown bulls live alone or in groups of bachelors, but join herds when females are ready for mating. Young Ely's are most vulnerable to predators. Mother elephants display their ferociousness by trumpeting aloud while approaching the enemy particularly when they are breeding young ones. Their gestation period is 22 months! Elephants have been listed among the endangered spices due to their high demand of their precious tusks. Thousands of Elephants are porched each year in Tanzania despite their large population in the national parks. In Kilimanjaro region Elephants migrate annually from bordering parks such as Tsavo and Amboseli parks in Kenya searching for water during the dry seasons. During this migration village farms and people standing by their paths are attacked.#Safari#Kilimanjaro#climbing#travel#holiday
Hippopotamus-hippopotamus amphibius.
Hippos live in large herds, tolerating close contact in the water but foraging alone when on the land. They emerge from the water at nights to graze. They wheighs between 1000-2000kgs and males are larger than females. Male adults aggressively defend territories against each other. When on land, hippos are extremely dangerous that they have become man's biggest enemy, especially when man inadvertently blacks their retreat way to the water. Amazingly they can share the same pool with crocodiles with little animosity.
