6 Days Climbing Kilimanjaro – Machame Route
Conquer the highest peak in Africa by embarking on a 6-day trek along the Route on Mount . Known for its stunning scenery, diverse landscapes, and challenging paths, the Machame Route offers an unforgettable experience for both seasoned hikers and adventurous beginners.
》 Day 1: Machame Gate to Camp
Your adventure begins at Machame Gate (1,800m), where you’ll hike through lush rainforest, spotting unique wildlife and vegetation. The day ends at Machame Camp (3,000m), nestled among giant heather trees.
》 Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Leaving the rainforest behind, you’ll ascend through moorland and heather. The landscape opens up, offering stunning views of the Kibo Peak and the surrounding valleys. After a 5-7 hour trek, you’ll reach Shira Camp (3,800m), situated on a plateau.
》 Day 3: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Acclimatization day! You’ll trek to Lava Tower (4,600m), a massive volcanic formation, then descend to Barranco Camp (3,950m). This helps your body adjust to the altitude, increasing your chances of a successful summit.
》Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
After conquering the Barranco Wall, a steep but non-technical climb, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the southern glaciers. The trek continues to Karanga Camp (4,035m), where you’ll rest and prepare for the higher altitudes ahead.
》Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
The trail leads to Barafu Camp (4,600m), the final stop before your summit attempt. Rest and hydrate because tonight you begin your climb to the summit!
》 Day 6: Summit Day – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Starting around midnight, you’ll make the final ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa! Witness the breathtaking sunrise from the roof of Africa before descending to Mweka Camp (3,100m), where you’ll celebrate your achievement.
