Trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, First you will be received from the airport to the hotel where you will rest for the day to prepare for the trip the next day. Machame Route Day 7.

Day 1: After breakfast at your hotel, the guide will be ready to wait for you to start the Safari. From the hotel to Machame gate, then you will start the first steps to walk to the next stop which is Machame Hut where you will rest until the next day.

Day 2: You will go from Machame Hut to the next station which is Shira Cave, there you will also rest until the next day.

Day 3: You will leave Shira Cave and go to the next stop which is Baranco Camp, where you will rest until the next day.

Day 4: You will leave Baranco Camp and go to the next station which is Karanga Camp, where you will also rest until the next day.

Day 5: You will leave Karanga Camp and go to the next station which is Barafu Camp.

Day 6: Then the trip down begins after having breakfast, you will go down to the next station which is Mweka Hut, where you will rest until the next day.

Day 7: You will leave Mweka Hut and go down to the last stop which is Mweka Gate-Moshi Town-Hotel. Your whole trip will be fun and interesting with Tongiche Tours And Safaris. 9-DAY ADVENTURE
The Machame Route
📍Kilimanjaro Tanzania

The Machame route begins at Machame Gate, at an altitude of 1800 metres, with an approach to the south west ofthe mountain. It passes through majestic rainforest on the first day, before continuing up the mountain to reachShira Camp, where the Lemosho route joins from the west. From here you traverse the southern side of themountain to Barranco via Lava Tower, and climb the Great Barranco Wall on your way to Barafu Camp. Afterreaching the summit, you will descend by the Mweka trail, rather than retracing your steps along the ascent route.

The Machame route is nicknamed the ‘Whiskey Route’ as it is considered more difficult than the ‘Coca Cola Route’,
the nickname for the Marangu route. In reality, it is not more technically difficult, but is longer and in places
steeper. The longer distance and the opportunity to ‘walk high, sleep low’ offer much better acclimatisation and asa result a very high success rate.

The Machame route is a good seven day hike for those who have not trekked much at high altitudes, with an effective extra day’s acclimatisation, giving a better success rate. Experienced and already acclimatised mountaineers may opt for the more difficult 6 day ascent along the Machame route.

MATERUNI Waterfall and Coffee Plantation #
Materuni is the home of the Chagga tribe and is still an authentic tribal village. This charming place is just 15km away from Moshi Town and is the last village before the Kilimanjaro National Park.



You will be picked up in Moshi in the morning, by our English-speaking guide, who will drive you to Materuni Village. Upon arrival, you will register at the village office and your trip can begin.



First you will visit the waterfalls, which are around a 40 minute walk away. On the way, your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga, village life and explain the surrounding fauna and flora. The views are truly breathtaking, and with some luck you will see the summit of

Kilimanjaro. When you reach the waterfalls, you will see that they are more than 80 meters high. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is an inviting place for a refreshing swim so don‘t forget your swimwear!



After having enjoyed the scenery, you slowly return with your guide to Materuni village, where you will experience a traditional Chagga lunch. You also will have the opportunity to taste our local banana beer – definitely not to be missed!



But that’s not all. Next the coffee experience awaits you. Here you will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted and further processed. You will also be invited to help with the

grinding of the coffee, which is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances - a fun way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Before you say goodbye and return in the

afternoon to Moshi, you can savour the coffee you made and appreciate the views of the surrounding rainforest.
