The first thing to note is that there are three types of jackals in the Serengeti, but I'll focus on the side-striped and black-backed jackals because they're the most common. The golden jackal doesn't appear as frequently on our cameras, but it looks similar to the other two with slightly more uniform coloring.

The East African crowned crane has a slate gray body and a long neck. The primary and secondary feathers range in color from dark gray to black, with chestnut markings. The cheek patches are bare, with a small red patch on top and a white patch on the bottom. A large straw-yellow crown adorns the head.

When comparing Kudu and Eland, which one is larger?
Male greater kudu stand 130–150 cm (51–59 inches) tall and weigh an average of 257 kg (567 pounds) with a maximum weight of 315 kg, making it the tallest antelope after the eland (694 pounds). 120 cm (47 inches) and 170 kg are the average height and weight of females (370 pounds).

Thomson's Gazelle can be seen in Serengeti National Park. Grant's gazelle has a thick black stripe running along the side of the face from the nose to the base of the horns, giving it a masked appearance. Thomson's stripe is similar, but it ends at the eye rather than passing through. Grant's has a more distinct white band on top of the black stripe.

The spots on a giraffe are similar to human fingerprints. Individual giraffes do not have the same pattern. Giraffes have two distinct, hair-covered horns called ossicones on both male and females. Male giraffes use their horns to fight with other males on occasion.

The lilac-breasted roller (Coracias caudatus) is a species of African roller in the Coraciidae family. It comes in about eight different colors: green, white, black, yellow, turquoise, dark blue, reddish-brown, and lilac. The bird is easily found in Tanzanian National Parks.

Lions may also climb trees to gain a better vantage point while searching for prey. Some lions climb trees to get away from the heat and enjoy the breeze. The trees are the safest place for lions in Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania, Eastern Africa, where they live in smaller prides.

Leopard is one of the big five animals on the African wildlife list. However, it is visible from the far end. The term "Big Five" was coined to describe the difficulty of hunting the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and African buffalo. These five large African mammal species were known to be dangerous, and bringing them home was considered a feat by trophy hunters.
