Coffee Tour/Waterfalls Hike

We offer a very popular half day cultural/ acclimatization tour. This tour visits a small village just outside of Kilimanjaro National Park boundary. We will tour a small coffee farm, and you will learn from a local guide about the cultivation and processing of coffee. You will also learn about the history and customs of the local Chagga tribe. There will be hiking at waterfalls and even a chance for a swim if you like.

The local women will prepare a lunch consisting of traditional Chagga foods. Included in this tour is private transportation, local fees and taxes, English speaking guide, lunch, and drinking water. Good shoes for hiking are needed since to get to the waterfalls involves some steep terrain. Athletic shoes are ok, flip-flops or other shoes without much stability are not.

There will be a chance for a short swim, so a swimsuit underneath your clothes and a towel would be good items to bring.

This trip offers some exercise after your long flight but not so much as to tire you out for the climb.

ITINERARY:
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
📍Pick-up from your hotel in Arusha at 7:00 AM after breakfast. Drive to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2.5 hours). Enjoy a picnic lunchin the park around 1:00 PM or late afternoon, followed by a game drive until evening. Return to Eileen's Trees Inn Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Serengeti National Park (Half-Day Game Drive)
📍Depart from Eileen's Trees Inn Lodge at 7:00 AM and drive to Serengeti National Park(4-5 hours). Arrive in time for a picnic lunch in the late afternoon, then proceed with a half-day game drive. In the evening, head to Central Serengeti Luxury Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park
📍Set out at 7:00 AM for a full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park, with a picnic lunch in the park around 1:00 PM. The game drive continues until 6:00 PM. Return to Central Serengeti Luxury Campfor dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park
📍After breakfast, spend another full-day game drive exploring the vast Serengeti. Enjoy the game drive until the late afternoon, followed by a picnic lunch.The game drive continues into the evening. Return to Central Serengeti Luxury Camp for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Half-Day Game Drive
📍After an early breakfast at 7:00 AM, drive to the Ngorongoro Crater (4-hour drive). Enjoy a picnic lunch in the Crater and continue with a game drive until evening. Head back to Eileen's Trees Inn Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Cultural Tour with Hadzabe Tribe
📍Start the day with breakfast,then transfer for a 1.5-hour drive to visit the Hadzabe Tribe.Spend a full day learning about their cultural activities. Stop for picnic lunch at 1:00 PM and continue exploring. In the evening, drive back to Eileen's Trees Inn in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7: Half-Day Game Drive at Lake Manyara National Park
📍After an early breakfast, depart at 7:00 AM for Lake Manyara National Park,famous for tree-climbing lions. Upon arrival (30-45 minutes), check in and enjoy a game drive until late afternoon. Stop for bush lunch,then leave the park in the late afternoon and drive back to Arusha (2.5 hours). Upon arrival, drop-off at your hotel or airport.

Itinerary

Day 0 - Our driver guide from Luguru Safaris will Pick you up at Kilimanjaro International airport and drive to hotel in Arusha for overnight.

Day 1 - Arusha to Tarangire

Pick up at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Arusha/Kilimanjaro and depart for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch for a full day game drive. Tanzania’s third largest National park is known for its majestic baobab trees that dot the landscape, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. Here you may see lion, leopard, cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, Oryx, eland, giraffe and zebra. Post the game drive, you will head back to your camp/lodge where a delicious dinner awaits you.

Day 2 - Tarangire to Central Serengeti

After finishing up a good breakfast, you will head out towards the Serengeti National Park and travel in the midst of the never ending plain grasslands. The Serengeti is arguably the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world. You will have an afternoon game drive in the endless plains of the Serengeti for a chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade. A picnic lunch will be done during the day long game drive itself. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation.

Day 3 - Central Serengeti to NCA

After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Later depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area with picnic lunch. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest collapsed volcanic crater in the world and fourteen kilometers of isolated natural beauty. Ngorongoro Crater is surrounded by a ring of extinct volcanoes and the floor, dotted with watering holes, shelters some 30,000 animals. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation.

Day 4 - Ngorongoro Crater Tour (5 hours) to Arusha

On the last day of your safari, you will have an early start. Finishing up with a quick breakfast you will make an early descent at around 6:30 AM into the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor of about 260 sq kms with a depth of over 2000 feet. The 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will show you a lot of animal action. Keeping the camera ready is definitely recommended. The African elephant, buffalo, Black rhino, Hippos, Hyenas, Cheetahs and Lions are found in plenty. Post the picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo pool, you will begin a steep ascend to the top exit of the crater. This is the last leg of your safari, with a 4hr drive left to Arusha. You will be dropped off to your preferred location in Arusha by 6:00 PM in the evening. With an incredible experience and loads of memories to cherish, this is the time you bid goodbye to your team.

The best time to visit Ngorongoro Crater with your own eyes is from May to October, during Tanzania’s dry season.

This period offers the best wildlife viewing opportunities as animals tend to gather around water sources. Visits to this popular site during the other times of the year are also possible, offering unique advantages.

During the rainy season from November to April, you will enjoy spectacular green landscapes and off-season discounts. However, animal viewing is trickier since many smaller creatures hide in the tall grass, rearing their young.

Non – game viewing time: 3 – 4 hrs
After breakfast the tour departs. First stop is Arusha Town for any last-minute purchases before we head off on safari. Afterwards we head towards the Tarangire National Park for a game drive with picnic lunch at the park. Tarangire is well known for its huge elephant population and baobab trees. It forms the center of an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebras.

Mount Kilimanjaro, which is the highest peak on the continent, has reclaimed its title as Africa’s leading Tourist Attraction site during the World Travel Awards Gala Ceremony held at Diani Beach in Kenya.

There was a total of nine African Nominees for the category; including Tanzania’s other entry, the Ngorongoro Conservation, Lake Malawi, Botswana’s Okavango Delta and the Pyramids of Giza, in Egypt.

South Africa’s which had the highest number of entries in the category walked out empty handed despite fielding the Table Mountain, of Cape Town, which previously won the title several times, the Historical Robben Island, Cape Town’s waterfront harbor and beaches as well as the Hartbeespoort Aerial Cableway.

Mount Kilimanjaro won Africa’s leading tourist attraction at the World Travel Awards for the first time in 2013, taking over from the Pyramids of Gizza.

The Pyramids of Egypt won the category for the first and last time in 2012. This was when the awards were established.

Kilimanjaro went on to win the title for four consecutive years in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 before losing it to South Africa’s Table Mountain in 2019.

Cape Town’s Table Mountain again managed to maintain the top WTA position for four consecutive years until 2023 when the Ngorongoro Conservation Area of Tanzania won it for the very first time.

In 2024 however, Mount Kilimanjaro managed to grab back the top Africa’s leading tourist attraction title at the World Travel Awards after six years. It seems more travellers voted for the giant land feature in the course of 2024.

Mount Kilimanjaro with two main peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi is a dormant volcano located in Moshi Municipality of Northern Tanzania.

Kilimanjaro Climbing 6Days Umbwe Route.

The Umbwe route is a short, steep and direct route. It is considered to be very difficult and is the most challenging way up Mount Kilimanjaro. Due to the quick ascent, Umbwe does not provide the necessary stages for altitude acclimatization. Although the traffic on this route is very low, the chances of success 80%.
The route is offered at a minimum of six days, though seven days is recommended when attempting this route. The Umbwe route should only be attempted by those who are very strong hikers and are confident in their ability to acclimatize, but can be added whereby giving the climber an extra day in the Karanga Valley. The descent trail is the same as the Mweka Route.
