Mauly Tours was founded in 1983 by Salim and Shariffa Mauly, who were born in western Tanzania and who came to Moshi to establish their home and family. From the beginning, Salim and Shariffa worked to deliver professional, friendly and innovative service. At its inception, Mauly Tours was the only company in Moshi doing airport transfers. In 1985, Salim passed away, after which Shariffa single-ha
ndedly took the reins of the fledgling company. While raising her four daughters, she also travelled around the globe to promote Mauly Tours. This is Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge. We love this lodge because it is steeped in history. The Lodge has been adapted from an early colonial farmhouse built in the early 20th century and it is one of the oldest family lodges in Arusha. The lodge is surrounded by lush greenery and has magnificent views of both Mt.Meru and Mt.Kilimanjaro. The best part is that the lodge is only a 30-minute drive from both Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha town center. Maramboi is situated in a prime location close to Lake Manyara, surrounded by palm trees. We love this tented camp because it offers comfort and convenience. This is Serengeti Simba Lodge.
Simba means ‘lion’ in Swahili, and is a symbol of strength, pride, and royalty; a fitting name for this lodge that sits high on a hill overlooking the Serengeti plains.
Mauly Tours is proud to partner with Simba Lodge. We always select the best places for our clients to stay, and Simba lodge is one of our absolute favorites. This lodge is one of the best places to stay during the Great Migration. ’Serengeti Migration’ passes the lodge twice a year, around June-July and again in October.

While on safari you may spot vultures soaring in circles in the distance. This means an animal has met its demise. Your driver guide may head in that direction, for the possibility of seeing a lion or other predator feeding on its latest catch.
Vultures play a very important ecological role in cleaning up after a predator has had its fill, this helps prevent the spread of diseases from rotting corpses.
Vultures have bare heads which help prevent feathers from matting with blood whilst they eat.
Their beak is exceptionally strong and heavy for tearing hide, muscle, and even bone.
When feeding, vultures maintain a strict social order based on body size and strength of the beak.

As you drive towards the lake a beautiful pink hue becomes visible. Hundreds and thousands of beautiful flamingoes come into sight.
Lake Manyara, a shallow alkaline lake created by a depression within the Great Rift Valley, is a feeding ground for approximately 1.9 million flamingos!
Lake Manyara National park is one of the best places to enjoy birdwatching. The park boasts close to 400 bird species including migrating birds from Eurasian locations, and three species that are unique and endangered to Tanzania. November to April is the best time to view flamingoes and other migratory birds at the lake.

There are seven main routes up Kilimanjaro. Each route is unique and has its own characteristics.
Today we will highlight the Rongai route which takes six days. There is only one route that takes you over the North-Eastern side of the mountain, and that is the Rongai Route. This route takes you through untouched wilderness. From maize fields and rainforests to rugged rocks and snow-capped peaks, you’ll truly feel like you’re exploring the wild on this route to the top of Kilimanjaro.

There are seven main routes up Kilimanjaro. Each route is unique and has its own characteristics. Today we will highlight the Machame route which takes six or seven days. The Machame route is one of the most popular routes to take because it is a very scenic route while also being more budget-friendly. Known as the whisky route, the journey is a little harder than other routes (such as the Marangu Route) however the success rate is higher! This route takes you through dense rainforest to Shira Plateau, past the lava tower and Barranco Hut then onto Barafu before you summit. You will descend via a different route, the Mweka Route.
Follow in the footsteps of explorers and mountaineers, trekking through rainforests, alpine deserts and across glaciers to reach the summit, high above the African plains. The climb is challenging but as you stand on the summit, with the world stretched out before you, you will bask in the glory of an incredible achievement.

The Hadzabe, also known as the Hadza are one of the oldest hunter gatherer tribes in Tanzania. They live in the north of Tanzania and have occupied their current territory for thousands of years, with relatively little modification to their basic way of life.
The Hadza survive by hunting their food with hand-made bows and arrows and foraging for plants. The Hadza diet consists of plants, meat, fat, and honey.
They create temporary shelters of dried grass and branches.
Mauly Tours offers an opportunity to meet the Hadza and see their way of life. This cultural experience is unique as the Hadza are one of the few groups of people who hold on to their traditional pasts. Take a step back in history and learn about these amazing people.

Prison Island in Zanzibar measures a mere 5.6km. The island is located just off the coast of Stone Town. In the 1860's the island was intended to be used as a prison. It later became a quarantine station for yellow fever cases. It is now home to a beautiful resort and is known for the endangered Aldabra giant tortoises that originated from the Seychelles.
