"We had an amazing time in Tanzania! We saw the Big 5 and so much more, with the highlight being the great Wildebeest migration in western Serengeti. We really enjoyed our village visits too and learning more about Tanzania’s tribes, culture and history. Nembris made the planning easy and our safari guide Jackson made sure we were in the right places at the right time! He was an excellent driver & it’s clear he takes pride in his job and wants his guests to have a great experience. Relaxing at the beautiful Zuri Zanzibar for a few days after safari & before the long journey home was perfect!"

Vultures in the Serengeti are vital scavengers, crucial for the ecosystem's health. Species like the Rüppell's Griffon and Lappet-faced Vulture are common, often seen circling high above the plains. They efficiently clean up carrion, preventing the spread of disease. Despite their importance, many vulture species face threats from poisoning and habitat loss, making conservation efforts essential.

"This safari was pure magic - all the animals and views we could ever hope for, fun driving in an open top safari land cruiser, amazing accommodation and food and the best driver and guide in Africa! Hashim was a driving machine, great instincts and very knowledgeable about a range of subjects when we would pester him with questions, and a fun person to have around. The office was truely excellent planning this amazing trip from start to finish. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend African Scenic Safaris to anyone wanting a fabulous experience in Tanzania, 5/5 stars (20 out of 5 if that were possible!) Thanks for such an amazing adventure!"

Did you know?
The Tanzanian dik-dik is a tiny antelope, standing only about 12-16 inches tall at the shoulder. These shy creatures have elongated snouts that help cool their bodies in the hot African climate. Dik-diks are monogamous, often pairing for life, and their name comes from the alarm call they make when frightened.

🌿Our guidelines for a responsible safari 🌱

Respect Wildlife 🐆
* Observe animals from a safe and respectful distance. Keep a minimum recommended distance to avoid causing stress or disturbance to the animals. Ask your driver to switch off the engine.
* Avoid making loud noises, sudden movements, or attempting to feed the wildlife.

Stay on Designated Paths 🛣
* Stick to designated trails and roads to minimize impact on the natural environment.
* Resist the temptation to go off-road, as this can damage delicate ecosystems and disrupt wildlife habitats.

Dispose of Waste Properly 🗑
* Follow the principles of "Leave No Trace" and take all your litter with you.
* Dispose of waste in designated bins and recycle whenever possible.

Conserve Water and Energy 🚰
* Use resources sparingly, especially in arid environments.
* Follow conservation practices at lodges and camps, such as reusing towels and turning off lights when not needed.

Choose eco-friendly accommodations 🏨
* They limit electricity to day times, using bucket showers, working with local community to grow food,

Support Local Communities 🛖
* Choose accommodations, restaurants, and services that purchase food locally, employ local community etc.
* Do not give money or candy to begging residents as this encourages them to keep bagging rather than working or going to school

Report Illegal Activities ⛔️
* If you witness any illegal activities, such as poaching or habitat destruction, off roading or any kind of violation against the park rules, report them to park authorities or local law enforcement.

Be Mindful of Your Carbon Footprint 👣
* Choose eco-friendly transportation options whenever possible.

🏔Kilimanjaro climb

👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏼Danny & Oksana

To give you some context, my fiance decided she wanted to do this challenge (climb Kilimanjaro) to raise money for a local cancer charity who supported her unbelievably through her chemotherapy and overall treatment. She wanted to make it her mission to be able to climb to the top, exactly 2 years after she was diagnosed with breast cancer....and we did it in early September this year! 💪🏽🎗

We chose to do the 8-day Lemosho Route which on reflection, was a proper adventure and ultimately gave us both additional time to acclimatise. Everything from the airport pick-up at Kilimanjaro Airport through to our guides and porters were absolutely amazing. 🚕

Their work ethic is super impressive, their kindness was sweet and their strength was amazing... Thank you! 🙏🏽

This was our first ever trip to Africa and its safe to say we'll definitely be coming back and visiting Tanzania again in the future as well as seeing as much of this amazing continent as we can! 🇹🇿🌍

If your goal is reach the "Roof of Africa", you'll be in for one of the best experiences out there with African Scenic Safari's :)

🧹Kilimanjaro Cleanliness Campaign 🧹

In November the non-governmental organization called ‘Leave No Trace’ worked together with KPAP (Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project) to promote a special project for waste collection inKilimanjaro National Park.

As Mount Kilimanjaro receives more than 30,000 visitors a year unfortunately, there is a lot of waste produced and it is not always put in the right places 🗑

African Scenic Safaris has provided 10 crew members for a 6 days cleanup event. Our porters were able to collect 320kg of waste in total along the Machame route and it’s camps 🏕

🇹🇿 Independence Day climb 🇹🇿

🏛 History

In 1961 when Tanganyika and Zanzibar united to become Tanzania, a kerosene torch was carried up Mount Kilimanjaro and placed on the summit to celebrate independence. To celebrate the new country, the name of the peak was changed to ‘Uhuru’ peak meaning ‘freedom.

📍Present

Every year on Independence Day there are groups of Tanzanians and Foreigners summiting Mount Kilimanjaro in celebration of Tanzania’s rich heritage.

This year for the 62nd Tanzania Independence Day (2nd December - 11th December 2023) African Scenic Safaris was chosen to participate in the official Independence climb with Kilimanjaro National Park via the Lemosho route.

Our group of 11 participants embarked on an unforgettable adventure and also contributed to a meaningful cause, as a portion of the proceeds have been donated to local community projects in Tanzania.
