The Calving Season is almost done! During this time, many Wildebeest females have given birth. However, there are still a few late ones that are in the process of giving birth. After the calving season, the Wildebeest will soon be on the move again. A new season starts in the Western Corridor, known as the Wildebeest Rutting and Matting Season, which takes place from June to July. During this season, the Wildebeest engage in mating activities.

By the time they cross the Great Mara River, which is a significant milestone in their migration, 99% of the females are pregnant. This period, known as the Mara River Season, is considered the best time to be in the area of Kogatende in Serengeti North. It lasts from mid-July to mid-October. During this time, we have the opportunity to witness the crisscrossing of the Mara River by the Wildebeest.

If you are planning a safari, this is the ideal time to do so.

HINTS:

To train before hiking Mt Kilimanjaro, it is important to focus on both cardiovascular fitness and strength training. Here are some tips:

1. Cardiovascular Fitness: Hiking at high altitudes requires good cardiovascular endurance. Incorporate activities like running, cycling, swimming, or brisk walking into your routine. Gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts over time.

2. Strength Training: Building strength in your legs, core, and upper body will help you tackle the challenging terrains and carry your backpack. Include exercises like squats, lunges, step-ups, planks, and push-ups in your workouts. Use weights or resistance bands to make your training more challenging.

3. Endurance Training: Plan long hikes or walks on weekends to simulate the endurance required for multi-day hiking. Increase the distance and elevation gradually to build endurance and test your stamina.

4. Hill Training: Find hilly terrains or use a treadmill with incline settings to simulate uphill climbs. Regularly incorporate uphill climbs into your training to strengthen your leg muscles and prepare for the steep sections of Kilimanjaro.

5. Acclimatization: As altitude sickness can be a concern on Kilimanjaro, it is beneficial to do some high-altitude training if possible. If you have access to mountains or higher altitude areas, plan a few hikes to help your body acclimatize to higher elevations.

6. Mental Preparation: Climbing Kilimanjaro is a mental challenge as well. Practice mental resilience by pushing your limits, staying positive, and embracing discomfort during your training sessions. Meditation and visualization techniques can also help you mentally prepare for the climb.

Remember to consult with a doctor or a fitness professional before starting any new training program, especially if you have any pre-existing health conditions.

Bob Junior has quite a history 📜, He was fathered by an equally famous lion called Bob Marley who was named due to his dreadlock and encrusted black mane.

Bob J was born in 2010, this handsome male lion had a luxuriant black mane stretching almost down to his stomach and died on 11.03.2023.

Nicknamed Bob Junior, Snyggve (Jay) was not only a handsome male lion but a dominant male who ruled the Namiri plains with his coalition brother Tryggve (Joel), and Bob’s genes are widely spread in the Serengeti.

Despite his strength and skills, he was outnumbered and defeated by the three younger males and died in his territory.

Bob Junior was a magnificent male lion, iconic and the best-looking lion in Serengeti, loved by guides, photographers, and everyone who visited Serengeti and a get a chance to see him, he always looks like he just stepped out of the saloon.

Bob Juniors legacy will continue to live on, Nature is beautiful and it can be cruel sometimes, but again it's Nature, new and stronger genes needs to be spread in the natural world.

And to the Lions, it takes another stronger male, or a coalition of males to attack another male to be able to take his territory, pride and pass his own genes.

Nature has prevailed and we have to accept and remember Bob J for his good looks and strong genes as his father Bob Marley(C boy).
