We have great news! It has been a while since our last update but hopefully you’ll agree it’s been worth it 😀

We now have two new women who have joined our workshop, Mecktrida and Ana! Both women are single mothers who were desperately keen to join MJ and secure this training to become “brave women on motorbikes” (which is what MJ Piki stands for).

The hurdles for securing the paperwork just to get a learner licence have really stepped up here in Tanzania but our women are not to be defeated and both secured learner licences! Ana has now actually also completed her riding training and is awaiting her full licence. Poor mecktrida had a lengthier wait though but no worries, she is making great progress now!

Also in utterly amazing news, we found out in May that the legend that is Ross Noble raised almost £6,500 for MJ Piki through the poster sales on his most recent hit comedy tour! Massive thanks Ross and all of his brilliant fans who bought these!! The proceeds are going to go a long way to help our riders achieve financial independence, challenge gender stereotypes and safeguard their communities through safe motorcycling. Our first project is to build a motorcycle Taxi tank for them outside our workshop right on the main road so that they can pick up passing trade and help get the word out!

Great news! MJ Piki is now offering a Nono supermarket delivery service! If you would like to trial this service, please whatsapp message Nono manager Adolph on 0764 175 102.
Nono will pick and pack your order ready for you to pay direct to them via mpesa. They will then notify MJ about the delivery and we will deliver direct to your home for just the cost of a normal boda ride from town to your home, ready for you to pay the MJ charge in cash.

The women of MJ Piki are so proud that in just over a month of service, our community have sent us on 75 trips to pick, pack and deliver their fruit and vegetable orders with a lot of repeat business! We have all learned so much about customer service, attention to detail with produce picking and invoicing/paperwork and have seen great progress!

Our service, which just started out as a Sunday only service, is now available every day of the week and we are now also able to source and deliver high quality rice, sugar, oil and other kitchen cupboard staples at low prices.

Even more excitingly, we have now received the final paperwork for our bodaboda registration so we are about to start to offer services to carry passengers safely to and from their destinations.

Thank you everyone, community, donors and more for your constant support, encouragement and feedback - we couldn't do it without you and we really appreciate it!

We are really thrilled to announce our very first service: fruit and veg pick and delivery from Mwanza's Sunday market. For an introductory price of just Tshs7k, one of our fantastic MJ Piki riders will hand select the best produce the Sunday market has to offer, pack it according to your pre-order requirements then deliver it to your home at a time to suit you.

If you'd be interested in this service (which starts this Sunday, 25th November), please message us and we'll be in touch with an order form.

Its worth saying: we work as a CBO so every trip makes a big difference to our riders' livelihoods. We hugely appreciate your support in choosing to use our service!
