A short History of Mt.Kilimanjaro
Hans Meyer(German): In 1887,during his 1st attempt to climb Kilimanjaro,reached the base of Kibo,but was forced to turn back coz he did not have equipment for heavy snow and ice. Second attempt again in 1888 that was unsuccessful.
In 1889 Meyer returned to Kilimanjaro with Austrian mountaineer Ludwing for third attempt,Oct 6,1889.
Mzee Yohane Lauwo was only eighteen years old when he led Hans Meyer and Ludwing to the highest point of AFRICA on October,5 1889.For his first climb he was only wrapped in blankets.....etc.
