Incredible Safari tour in the Ngorongoro crater!

" Two days ago we went on a safari tour with Shimboni Africa Tours. We already knew the owner Victor from our previous stay in Shimbwe Meadows Guest House . The guesthouse is a beautiful place in Shimbwe village with a view of Kilimanjaro. The staff is super nice and friendly and the food is delicious. Because we love this place, we spent there the night before the tour. So we could leave early in the morning with our guide Eliud to our accommodation. Beforehand, we didn't know much about the upcoming trip and trusted Victor to organise everything. It turned out that we were right. This was one of the best experiences! Eliud is a wonderful guide and the accommodation was fantastic! The scenery is phenomenal. We had a beautiful sunset overlooking Lake Manyara, swam in a pool and ate a delicious dinner at the camp. Eliud did everything to give us an incomparable experience. The next morning we drove to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area as early as 5.30am to see the sunrise at Ngorongoro. To be one of the first people in this area was incredible! After only a few minutes on the crater rim we saw 3 beautiful elephants grazing next to the car. We also saw lions and lionesses as well as many other incredible animals in this unique sanctuary, such as wildebeest, many hippos and even black rhinos and a silver cat! On top of that, there was even a very personal and up close contact with Baboons :D Eliud took great care of us and waited patiently so that we could take many photos and enjoy the nature. Eliud is very knowledgeable and helpful and took us to the most amazing places to experience the beautiful and impressive wildlife of this area! We drove around in a comfortable and well-equipped safari jeep, had great meals every day, with our vegetarian and vegan food preferences well catered for.
I am grateful to Eliud and Victor for this wonderful once in a lifetime experience".

Lake Chala Day Tour

Lake Chala is the unique caldera lake which is thought to be the deepest inland water body in Africa. The source of water of the lake is the underground water springs from Mount Kilimanjaro.
This tour is an hour and half drive from our mountain home Shimbwe Meadows Guest House the lake has a mean depth of 81 meters and it covers the area of 4.2 km square.
Activities: bird watching, animals viewing, swimming, walking safari around the lake and canoeing.
The activity shall take almost 7 hours from 9h30 in the morning to 16h30 in the evening.

Chemka (Kikuletwa) Hot Springs

This beautiful mineral spring originates from Kilimanjaro ground waters. The Chemka Hot Springs are about 40 kilometers away from Moshi, in the homonymous village called Chemka. They are underground springs with warm water. The water forms a clear and clean pond which is ideal for swimming.
The pond is situated under lush trees. On the shore you can camp, enjoy your snacks and let yourself dry after swimming.

Hippos sighting 🦛 in Ngorongoro Crater. Hippos are usually placid creatures but can become very aggressive if an intruder gets between them and their pool.
At night and occasionally on wet overcast days, hippos leave the water to crop the vegetation considerable distance from the pool. They can eat up to 60kgs in a night.
