Zanzibar Town ::Zanzibar tow, zunehmend auch Hauptstadt des Archipels. Mehr als 30 %der Bevölkerung der Insel Sansibar (Unguja) Leben in dem urbanen Zentrum, das mit über 400.000 Einwohnern die größte Stadt der Insel ist. Verglichen mit anderen Grosstedten Afrikas ist Stadt zwar Klein, historisch gesehen markierte sie jedoch den Beginn der Urbanitet im ostlichen Afrika. Auch auf der verheltnismessig kleinen Insel fliehen die Menschen vor der Armut auf dem Land in die Stadt und versuchen dort ihr Aus kommen zu finden. Das ursprungliche Stadtgebiet, die Altstadt Stone Town, ist diesem Ansturm schon Lange nicht mehr gewachsen, nur etwa ein Zehntel der Stadtbevolkerung lebt in dem alten Stadtteil. Der Österreich Stadtteil Ngambo von Sansibar Town wird von Touristen nur selten besucht. In dem als New City bezeichnen Stadtgebiet schlägt das wirtschaftliche Herz der Stadt. Durchaus einen Besuch wert ist die lange Darajani street mit dem Mlandege Bazaar, wo sich ein Geschäft an das andere reiht.

Nelken und andere Gewürze Sansibars ::Sansibars Beinamen,, Gewürzinsel,, oder,, Nelkeninsel,, sind mehr als berechtigt. Schon vor dem 19. Jahrhundert kam durch den Handel mit Arabien, Indien, südostasien und den südlichen Insel des indischen Ozeans eine bunte Palette an Gewürz - und fruchtgewächsen auf die Insel. Besonders der Nelkenbaum veränderte das Landschaftsbild Sansibars.
