The second sign of Pripyat is not as widely known as the first, more famous sign that greets visitors at the entrance of the abandoned city near Chornobyl, Ukraine. While the first sign is a large concrete structure that reads "Pripyat" with the year of the city's founding (1970), the second sign was reportedly less prominent and located deeper within the city, near one of its neighborhoods.

Hanna was always so bright and joyful, her face lighting up whenever someone came to visit. You could taste her homemade fried potatoes, pet her kittens, and admire her tidy garden filled with grapevines and beautiful dahlias. In the summer, people gathered outside, savoring her food and stories, always reluctant to leave. She was iconic for Chornobyl and unbelievably strong.

This week, several hundred hectares of forest and peat burned in the Chernobyl zone for about 3 days.
The area of the fire was up to 550 hectares.
The fire was extinguished by more than 200 people and 50 vehicles.
The Ministry of Ecology assures that the radiation background is normal and there is no threat to critical infrastructure facilities.
All those who put out the fire work in respirators. Fires in the exclusion zone occur almost every year. In the spring of 2020, aviation was involved for extinguishing. At that time, the fire spread over 3.5 thousand hectares of the area of the zone.
People often believe that radioactive particles can spread with smoke and harm the health of the population. In fact, the spread of radiation, if it does occur, is very local. However, fires in a forested area are indeed a problem, but more from the point of view of ecology than radiation safety.

The Pripyat swimming pool, known as "Azure," is a haunting yet iconic site within the abandoned city of Pripyat, near the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Despite being abandoned after the 1986 disaster, the pool remained in use by workers until the 1990s. It has since become a symbol of the lost world before the disaster and is a popular site for urban explorers. The hot summer sun now brings back memories of the eerie silence and decaying beauty of this once-lively recreation spot.

Unfortunately, another Chernobyl Babushkas passed away - Valentina from the village of Teremtsy died. Before the Chernobyl accident she lived in Pripyat for 15 years and worked in Pripyat hospital 126. Her husband was a liquidator, who died because of radiation sickness. Valentina was among the hospital workers who helped the first injured firefighters. Many tourists visited this amazing Babushka. Rest in peace.
