The Champs-Elysées is Paris' most popular street, with up to 80,000 people passing through it every hour! The most prominent landmark of the Champs-Elysées is the Arc de Triomphe on Place Charles de Gaulle. The monument was erected by order of Napoleon in memory of those who fought for France during the Revolutions and Napoleonic Wars. At its foot events devoted to important events in the life of France, as well as holidays and public festivities are held. Next to the arch there is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Eternal Flame burns. The arch is surrounded by a hundred granite bollards symbolizing Napoleon's hundred-day reign. The names of the generals are inscribed on the walls of the structure, and you can stop here for a long time, looking at the bas-reliefs depicting battle scenes
