The new bridge connecting the Saint Volodymyr's Hill Park with the People's Friendship Arch is planned to be opened by the end of May.

The bridge will be 210 meters in length with separate pedestrian and cycling lanes. It will feature a number of viewing platforms where people will be able to look down towards the riverside Podil district and across at the islands and beaches of the Dnipro River towards Left Bank Kyiv.

On 24.04.2019 Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine set Ukraine Visa-Free for citizens of Ecuador with stay up to 90 days that let Ecuadorian citizens visit Ukraine in tourism and business purposes more comfortable.

Now Ecuadorian citizens could come to Ukraine free of visa for stay up to 90 days in the period of time 365 days.

In one year after the first entry to Ukraine citizens of Ecuador could come again with visa-free conditions of their stay in Ukraine.

The same rules are set for citizens of Ukraine who plan to visit Ecuador in tourism and business goals.

LYCHAKIV CEMETERY is one of the oldest cemeteries in Europe. It was established in 1786 when Austrian authorities banned to bury the deceased at the old graveyards near churches. Besides being so old, this cemetery is also enormous – it stretches over 40 hectares and comprises over 300 thousand burials, including those of prominent artists, poets, musicians, politicians, city mayors, clergy, wealthy people, etc. There are numerous legends and horror stories about the cemetery, e.g. about a woman in black without a face or about a ghost couple of lovers that wander around. Even though the place is not associated with fun but once in a while funny things also happen there, e.g. in times when some parts of the cemetery were in a very poor condition and some tombs were open, a couple of homeless people used those pits as a shelter. One day, tourists walked nearby and heard some noise and light coming from there, horrified to death, they ran away yelling that the dead became alive.

LVIV. HIGH CASTLE. When people hear the name for the first time, they usually expect to see some impressive castle or at least the ruins of the fortification. However, after they walk through the park 123 meters up the hill, they see nothing… at least nothing of the expected; what they do get instead is the wonderful view of Lviv, since this is the highest point of the city. It’s interesting to note that at the end of the 19th century, Castle Hill was artificially made higher per initiative and at the expense of the Polish politician Franciszek Smolka. He ordered to make another hill on top to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Union of Lublin. As a result, the Castle Hill reached 413 meters above sea level.

LVIV. POTOTSKI PALACE.
Count Alfred II Pototskyi purchased a land plot with a huge and beautiful garden at the bank of the Poltva river and initially he had a wooden hunting cabin built there. Later on, he decided to erect a palace but the construction works that started in 1880 lasted about 3 decades and the count died before it was finished. The palace was inherited by his wife and son. The premises initially functioned as the residence. Then, during Soviet times the palace was used by the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of Combustible Minerals of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Later, it also became the place for registering marriages and many couples dreamed of having their wedding ceremony at these luxurious premises. In the 2000s, the Pototski Palace was handed over to the Lviv Art Gallery, and is now the home for European art of the 14th–18th centuries. It also hosts conferences, concerts, business meetings, and other events, one of which is the well-known annual Forum of Book Publishers.

Situated in Western Ukraine, just 15 km from Lviv, BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr provides mistreated bears with a safe and natural home. Supported by the foundation FOUR PAWS, the sanctuary aims to help bears by rescuing them from cruel captivity, e.g. baiting stations for hunting dogs, moving zoos, circuses, hotels, and restaurants.

In Domazhyr the rescued bears are provided with conditions close to natural in order to hold the rehabilitation and restoration of the origin balance. Moreover, the BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr became not only a new home for suffered bears but also a powerful educational and eco-consciousness center. Regular tours and activities related to the animal and environment welfare will be based in the Sanctuary.

Armenian quarter is located in the northern part of the city, close to the Market Square. The quarter has its unique architecture and distinctive spirit of deep-rooted Eastern Christian culture that was brought and nourished by Armenians, one of the oldest national minority communities in Lviv. They used to have their own school, hospital, library, theatre and even printing house. The Armenian Cathedral complex became one of the most interesting architectural heritage sites of Lviv. There’s a legend that the church was built at a place that used to be a garden with all kinds of plants brought from Armenia. One of the trees, quince, bore fruits that had an image of cross, when cut in half; and that’s where the church was built.

LVIV NATIONAL OPERA. Probably everyone who has been to Lviv at least once has a picture of or in front of the theater, because firstly, it’s conveniently located in the city center and it would be difficult not to walk by it, and secondly, the building is really worth seeing. Besides the beautiful architecture and outer decorations, the theater comprising 1 thousand seats is quite fascinating inside as well, in particular it’s well known for its stage curtain, called “Parnas”. It was created by the Polish artist who was originally from Ukraine. It took him 4 years to complete his masterpiece but, in the end, it turned out that the theater budget did not allow to purchase the custom-made curtain. So the artist decided to give his masterwork as a present, and it has pleased the eye of audience for over a century now. Similar curtains can only be found in the Krakow Opera and La Scala.
