The Egyptian goose (Alopochen aegyptiaca) is one of the African birds seen during a Ugandan Birding Safari, it is such a strong bird and can live up to 25 years. The Egyptian goose was a very popular bird in the ancient Egyptians who considered it as a bleed bird and would put it in most of their artwork and could even be domesticated.
Both the males and females are similar except that the male is quite larger than the female.
The male Egyptian goose attracts its mate with an elaborate, noisy courtship display that includes honking, neck stretching and feather displays.
The head, neck, chest and belly are buffy-grey. A dusk ring surrounds the eye starting from the beak while another chocolate stripe surrounds the neck
The tail is dark while the scapulars are brown-like. It has a pink bill and legs, its eyes are brown
Egyptian goose travel to breeding areas in darkness, they feed for a goodtime mostly on foliage, leaves, grains and many vegetables including insects like locusts and worms
Egyptian geese are very monogamous birds which make pair bonds once for life
